The Associate Director contributes, and further develops, professional and technical skills to the highest level on all projects they contribute to or undertake. They also support the development and training of leading-edge technical skills and understand how to practically apply them in ways that add value to AECOM and its clients.
Safety for Life
- Comply with the AECOM Safety, Health & Environment (SH&E) policy by adopting work practices that support SH&E programs; taking reasonable care for own health and safety and that of others; seeking guidance for all new or modified work procedures; ensuring that any hazardous conditions, near misses and injuries are reported immediately; and participating in meetings, training and other SH&E activities as required.
- Ensure that effective policies and processes are in place and that employees are in compliance with requirements.
Technical/Professional Expertise
- Analysis and conceptual to detailed design of dams
- Inspection, investigation and condition assessment of existing dams
- Construction support services including inspection of works, evaluation of quality control and quality assurance data and construction reporting
- Preparation of tenders and proposals
- Possess and demonstrate solid functional and/or technical knowledge, skills and abilities specific to role/level and applies them effectively in connection with business goals.
- Develop, maintain and retain the highest standard of professional and technical skills.
- Keep abreast of current industry issues and best practices to enable continual alignment and improvement.
- Act as a technical expert in the related discipline field to develop and share knowledge with other employees.
- Have extensive experience in writing and presenting internally and externally.
- Lead project reviews and lessons learned sessions.
- In conjunction with other Technical Directors, Associate Directors, and Principal Professionals, plan and allocate available resources for projects and/or assignments.
- Fully conversant and experienced in multi-discipline project delivery.
- Manage risk and opportunities on all assigned projects.
- Provides technical engineering leadership, on projects, through input including review and verification.
- Project and design management excellence.
- Undertake design management roles in multidisciplinary projects, ensuring integrated design through effective communication and coordination with other disciplines
- Analysis and review of relevant planning documents to scope planning requirements, develop planning methodologies and advise on key information to support required approvals.
- Provides technical inputs for design and planning projects including asset management and reporting, appropriate to the level of the study.
Client
- Lead the implementation of the Client Promise across large projects and teams.
- Establish and maintains effective relationships with clients/customers, gains their trust and respect and makes the connection to AECOM service offerings and enables positioning for future opportunities.
- Manage, identify and contribute to the improvement to processes, work practices, and overall client experiences and implement sustainable changes to deliver improved services.
- Ability to understand clients’ needs and challenges and is passionate about solving clients’ problems providing innovative and practical solutions to meet their expectations.
- Is dedicated and takes ownership of meeting the expectations, requirements, and agreements of external and internal clients/customers, and acts with them in mind.
- Liaise and communicate effectively with clients on business development activities and during project implementation.
- Maintain a professional image on behalf of the company at all times when dealing with internal and external clients.
- Participate in client feedback to develop an improved client experience and repeat work.
- Works with a long-term perspective to address clients’ problems.
Financial/Project Management
- Responsible for the financial performance of the team, by managing and monitoring effectively all financial indicators.
- Takes responsibility for delivery of individual projects including technical quality, budget, and programme
- Communicates and successfully engages others on competing organisational priorities.
- Ensure delivery of projects in accordance with AECOM’s Project Delivery Framework requirements.
- Raise concerns with AECOM staff and management on projects that appear to not be meeting their project management objective, particular with respect to milestone dates, financial performance, and quality.
- Set and clearly communicates goals and targets for self, team, and stakeholders.
- Obtain certification as Project Manager for AECOM, including ePM.
- Ensure that all relevant Quality Assurance procedures are followed whilst understanding the importance of adherence to Quality Assurance Standards.
- Identifying and acquiring necessary project resources, managing staff forecast.
- Responsible for ensuring that programme and profit objectives are met and assist with project reporting, billing and the submission of variations in a timely manner.
- Review and approve other project managers’ submissions.
- Effectively manage AECOM projects against company standards/guidelines.
Business Development
- Deliver on the strategic business plan for the relevant business line to ensure key strategic objectives are achieved.
- Actively participate in business and strategic planning activities to identify opportunities to sustain the growth of the business in the short, medium and longer-term.
- Take the lead with “cross-selling” to leverage opportunities between business units, services line(s) or the regions and identify opportunities for extending existing contracts.
- Identify and develop new business development initiatives including engagement with external clients and prospective clients.
- Look ahead to understand and define future technology requirements and support delivery/budget and resourcing needs.
Leadership
