JOB SUMMARY:

The Health Care Associate(HCA) /Patient Care Associate (PCA) works with his/her team partner(s), the Registered Nurse and the Unit Secretary, to provide direct patient care.  As a member of the Patient Care Team, the HCA/PCA is cross-trained to perform a wide range of essential patient services.

The HCA/PCA performs a variety of basic age-specific duties to assist in the care of the patients under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN).  All clinical care will be done under the direction of the RN who has determined appropriate tasks for delegation.  The HCA/PCA makes observations as directed by the RN and reports deviations to the RN.

EDUCATION:

• High School Diploma/GED preferred
• State-tested Nurse Assistant or completion of HCA training related to acute care setting, or a Nursing Student who has completed first semester of an acute care hospital-based clinical experience. 
• BLS certified by American Heart Association

EXPERIENCE:

• Experience in providing direct patient care.

PRINCIPAL JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Collects specimens (i.e. urine, sputum) and ensures timely transport of specimens to the lab.

• Performs electrocardiogram (ECG).

• Performs urinary catheterizations and enemas. 
• Observes universal precautions and aseptic techniques.

• Assists in orientation of new personnel.

Summary of Primary Function/General Purpose of Position
The Stepdown Registered Nurse (RN) delivers patient care utilizing the nursing process through data collection and assessment, identifying and determining the priority of patient’s problems/needs, and evaluating the process and outcome of nursing care, all in collaboration with the interdisciplinary care team.                 Under the direction and supervision of a radiologist/physician, and lead technologist, the breast imaging specialist shall be responsible for performing screening and diagnostic breast imaging studies, general diagnostic radiology exams and dexa scans. Manager of the center provides operational oversight related to policy/procedure, staffing patterns and quality assurance in conjunction with the Breast Program Leadership and the JACBCC Operational Committee. Will work effectively in a team setting, as well as independently. Is customer friendly, works well with physicians, and other staff, and ancillary departments. Observes all radiation safety guidelines and performs other duties which assist in the provision of quality patient care according to the mission and values of the ministry. Cares for adolescent, adult and geriatric age groups. Must be willing to assist with, MQSA, ACR and NAPBC

Summary of Primary Function/General Purpose of Position 
The RN Outpatient Wound Care performs and documents complete patient assessments, initiates and maintains current nursing care plans for all assigned patients, identifies patient learning needs to provide individualized and comprehensive teaching, administers medications in a safe manner consistent with the State of Practice and Bon Secours Mercy Health policies and procedures, and acts as a patient safety advocate by participating in ongoing quality improvement in the Outpatient Wound Care department.

SUMMARY:

Responsible for providing emergency nursing care in a prompt and efficient manner to all patients transported via Mercy Health Life Flight Network. Responsible for assessing, planning, organizing, documenting, and evaluating patient care in conjunction with another Critical Care Transport Care provider. The Critical Care Transport Nurse acts as a professional representative of Bon Secours Mercy Health to the community, as an educator to professional groups, to emergency medical services and promotes Mercy Health - St. Vincent Medical Center and Mercy Health - St. Rita's Medical Center as regional referral centers. Assists in the provision of care to patients of all age groups (neonate, pediatric, adult and geriatric). The Critical Care Transport Nurse will be hired in on a ground Mobile Intensive Care Unit base with a progression towards rotor wing flight cross training if interested and openings are available.

EDUCATION:

Required Minimum Education:  2-year Associates Degree

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONS (must be non-expired/active unless otherwise stated):

Required:

• Must possess a current license as a Registered Nurse from the State of Ohio
• CAMTS approved advanced certification (CFRN, or CTRN) required or obtained within 18 months of hire.                                                            
• Basic Cardiac Life Support certification required.                                                                       
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification required.                                                   
• TNCC and ITLS required or obtained within 6 months of hire.                               
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required within 6 months of hire.       
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) required within 6 months of hire.  
• FEMA 100, 200, & 700 within 6 months of hire    
• Emergency Vehicle Operations Certification required within 6 months of hire.                                             

​Preferred:

• Michigan Registered Nurse license (required for Wauseon Flight Base)                                                                   
• EMT or Paramedic Certification (required for Wauseon Flight Base)
• Michigan EMT or Paramedic Certification (required for Wauseon Flight Base)                                                                                                                        

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Years and Type of Experience:  3 years of professional nursing experience in critical care with at least 1 year of emergency care experience.

Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

• Work requires 16-week minimum orientation to acquire necessary familiarity with department and unit policies and procedures.
• Must possess analytical abilities, sound nursing knowledge, problem solving skills for the effective formulation of a plan of care, implementation of care, and appropriate documentation of pertinent information regarding patient-condition.
• Must possess sufficient interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with patients, physicians, and hospital personnel. Must have demonstrated leadership skills to participate in professional and community education programs; and to effectively maintain good public relations for the institution.
