- RAF Alconbury, PE28 4DAPermanent, Full time, 39 hours (shift patterns may vary)Competitive salary plus benefits Serco have an exciting opportunity for a Shift Driver to join the team at RAF Alconbury.
Reporting to the Serco Vehicle Operations Supervisor, the role requires you to complete various driving tasks in support of the mission at RAF Alconbury, these tasks could include mail delivery, passenger transportation, supply transportation and much more.
As part of this role you will be required to work on a 5 day shift pattern over a 7 day period. You will be responsible for the safe operation of a variety of United States Air Force vehicles.
The role offers driving variety and you will be joining a supportive team and a friendly working environment.
Main Accountabilities:
- Safely drive passengers between set locations, maintain timely arrival and departure in accordance with the pre-determined schedule.
- Safely transport mail or supplies between set locations
- You will be required to work a 5 day week covering a 7 day shift pattern. 2 weekends in every seven will be worked, with a shift allowance being given during this time.
- You will be required to carry out various yard duties when driving duties are not required.
- There will also be a requirement to maintain the vehicles to a suitable standard through cleaning, washing and reporting any mechanical or technical faults to the maintenance department.
- Maintain excellent interpersonal skills at all times as you will be dealing with customers being transported.
- The ability to multi-task to assist in other contracted areas – learning various roles and skills, for which training will be provided.
- You will be responsible for the safe operation of Customer owned vehicles, tools and equipment. The majority of vehicles are left hand drive.
- Any other contractual duties as required by the Vehicle Operations Supervisor or Site Manager.

What you’ll need to do the role:
Essential:
- To have experience of regular driving commitments
- Have a clean PCV driving licence (or the ability to pass a course)
- Have a current Drivers CPC card
- To be able to communicate with customers at all levels in a polite manner
- Able to work as part of a team
Desirable:
C+E LicenceForklift LicenceIT literate
The role is subject to gaining the appropriate Security Clearance and enhanced CRB check.
