The primary purpose of this Lead Medical Care Transpiration Technician - Lead Paramedic position is to perform the technical duties as a Paramedic (Basic and Advanced Life Support) and lead other paramedics and Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT).

• Responds to accidents and other emergencies involving injury, illness, life threatening situations; patient triage and take/record patient vital signs;

• Makes independent preliminary patient assessments and if and how the patient can be moved and to which facility to transport patient to;
• Administers Basic and Advanced Life Support Care, responds to and monitors cardiac and defibrillation;

• Performs procedures in strict compliance with standing orders and protocols within the national scope of practice and written standards - Ambulance Interpretive Guidelines involve: Airway Obstruction and Respiratory Arrest; Cardiac Arrest; Mechanical Breathing Aids; Bleeding and Shock; Fractures of Torso and Extremities; Head, Face, Neck and Spine Injuries; Eye, Chest, Abdomen, and Genitalia; Childbirth; Miscellaneous Medical Emergencies; Environmental Emergencies.
• Operates emergency transport vehicles, uses telephone and radio communications equipment and systems, selects most efficient route to and from sites taking into consideration traffic patterns, adverse weather conditions, and health facility locations;
• Reads highway maps, program GPS devices, and follows instructions;
• Decontaminates the vehicle and assures vehicle is ready for the next run by replacing supplies and medical equipment and performs safety inspections and operator maintenance;
• Performs other duties as necessary.

Job Description/Scope of Practice
The incumbent will have knowledge of the processes for Reusable Medical Equipment (RME) as required by this position. The incumbent will be required to maintain current knowledge of the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) which document the processes and procedures for cleaning, disinfection, sterilization and preparation of RME appropriate to this position. The incumbent will be able to demonstrate their ability to utilize an acceptable proficiency in the use of RME appropriate to this position.

This is an advance performance level position in Sterile Processing Service as a Lead Medical Supply Technician (Sterile Processing Technician). In this position, the incumbent will provide sterilization, preparation, supply items and reusable medical equipment decontamination and distribution support for the medical center. The term "supply item" as used in this functional statement refers to disposable and reusable items for patient care including instrumentation (scissors, forceps, retractors, etc.), reusable medical equipment (suction machines infusion pumps, etc.), surgical trays and sets and various other items that could be processed or assembled through the Preparation and Decontamination areas of Sterile Processing Service.

This is a full performance level MST position. The Lead works in support of the Sterile Processing Service (SPS) management team. Distributes and prioritizes workload among employees in accordance with established workflow and/ or job specializations. Assures an even workflow and distribution of the workload. Revises work schedules to meet anticipated and unanticipated changes in the workload. Assigns work to staff based on experience and training needs. Monitors and reports on the status of work. Ensures SOPs and SPS mandates are followed during the performance of workflow. Reviews work in progress or spot checks work not requiring review to ensure completed work meets supervisors' instructions on such things as work sequence, procedures, methods, and deadlines. Assesses the quality and quantity of work.by reviewing the cleaning, reprocessing, and distribution of technical medical equipment, material and instrumentation.
