Senior Pharmacy Technician, SACT Distribution Unit (SDU) Band 5 - Sutton based.

An exciting and unique opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, dynamic and self-motivated professional to join our pharmacy team at the Sutton site of the Royal Marsden.

You will be part of a team consisting of Pharmacists, Technicians and Assistants, who are always striving for excellence in all aspects of our work. We are working collaboratively as part of a Multi-Disciplinary Team to ensure we always deliver outstanding care to our patients.

It is an exciting time to join the Royal Marsden Hospital Pharmacy Department. Our service is built around providing a high-quality service to our patients and staff at the Trust.

With the opening of the new OCC, we are diversifying our service for the delivery of parenteral SACT products to the hospital through our new SACT Distribution Unit (SDU). The unit will allow us to maximise the efficiency of procurement and delivery of externally sourced parenteral SACT products to the Royal Marsden Hospital sites. The SDU will work closely and collaboratively with the Hospital’s Pharmacy Aspetic unit to co-ordinate delivery of treatments that are delivered from both units.

The hospital introduced the EPIC digital health record system in March 2023, and we are looking to use the full capabilities of this system to support the efficient delivery of parenteral SACT products through the SDU.

The Job Description outlines the roles of the Senior Pharmacy Technician SDU. You will work closely with the Lead Technician for the SDU to manage the day to day running of the unit, providing a high quality, safe and efficient service supplying batch and patient specific parenteral SACT doses to all service users.

You will work together with the Lead technician to monitor and develop the service to ensure the highest standards of patient-focused care are achieved in the provision of parenteral SACT products at the Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust through the unit.

Duties

As an experienced driver - machine assembler you will be assisting with the manufacture and distribution of specialist automated conveyor systems, working from the company's engineering workshop in Castle Bromwich. Primary responsibility will be to deliver, assemblies, components, parts and consumables to various sites across the Midlands. With the occasional delivery to Bristol or Manchester. Other duties will include assembling a range of mechanical components which will form part of larger conveyor and high-speed automated machines. Specifically, bolting small hand-held actuators to metal plates, inserting small pneumatic rams into lifting frames and fixing control arms to metal box section. Other duties will include assisting fitters with assembly and installation works along with general labouring duties as instructed by the workshop manager.

This is NOT a target orientated, multi-drop driving role so the driving will only take up 30% of your time the remaining 70% will be mechanical assembly work.

About You

Based ideally in Birmingham you will need to live within a short commutable distance of B24 9QG.

Demonstrable experience of delivery driving would be advantageous however experience of mechanical assembly work is more important for this position.
