We are looking for a Class 1 driver to join our team at Wincanton in Blackburn on the day shift, where we provide logistics services for our exciting aerospace customer.  As a class 1 driver you will be responsible for the collection and delivery of small to large high-value consignments that require special handling conditions.

Successful candidates will be required to obtain and maintain Security Clearance

Day to Day

• Collection and delivery of small to large high-value consignments that require special handling conditions
• Consistently ensure customer expectations are met
• Ensure all documentation is completed and returned accurately at the end of each shift
• Adhere to specific time restrictions given under current legislation
• Adhere to legislative regulations and company policies
• Driving activities will generally consist of inter-site and intra-site deliveries, supplier collections around the Northwest, however nationwide and international deliveries and collections are required.
• Double manned working with nights away.
• Cross training on warehouse activities may be given to offer flexibility and business continuity to the operation

What will you bring?

• Must have a valid Class 1 licence
• Full DCPC Qualification
• Strong communication skills, particularly verbal, to develop good working relationships with colleagues and customers
• A responsible and reliable attitude
• Experience of multi drop collection and deliveries together with experience of working in a warehouse environment will be an advantage, although full training will be provided
• The ability to safely lift or move heavy items
• A flexible, ‘can do’ attitude as start and finish times may vary in line with WTD and EU Drivers Hours Regulations
• A reasonable amount of overtime will be expected
• Nights out and weekends away required in line with operational needs.
• Good geographical knowledge
• Valid and in date passport kept up to date for business needs.
• Ability to work well and develop good working relationships in a double manned team.

EXPERIENCED CLASS 1 HGV DRIVERS REQUIRED FOR PEAK CONTRACT

Location: Skelmersdale

Our client, based in Skelmersdale, is looking for experienced class 1 drivers for their peak contract. Every year they work on behalf of the UKs biggest mail distributor working in partnership to move trailers around the UK. The working patterns are flexible and we welcome full time and part time drivers.

Start times and shift patterns are planned a week in advance and we can accommodate very early starts all the way through to night drivers.

THE JOB

This job requires the driver to pass a short induction / driving assessment.

The job involves trunking trailers around key customer hub depots around the UK.

Average shift length is approx 10-12 hours per day

Days - £165 per shift

Nights - £175 per shift

Saturday - £210 per shift

Sunday - £220 per shift

What is the job?

This is a Class 1 HGV Job. The work will vary between days and nights, however it will normally transporting curtain sider trailers to customer depots around the UK. The job also involves trailer drop and swaps to different UK Ports.

The job is mostly Monday to Friday, days 0600-0700 starts, nights normally 1800 starts. Weekend overtime is available during busy peak periods.

Driver Requirements

Ideally drivers will have prior experience with curtainsided trailers

Must have excellent knowledge of WTD

Good geographical knowledge

You must have a Class 1 (C+E) licence, digi card and CPC

For insurance purposes you will need to have had 12 months HGV Experience
