Upto *£29,250 (C1 licence), If you are a driver with a D Licence, you will receive an hourly uplift and could earn up to £35,685 per annum dependent on the contract

What’s involved in this job? - Prisoner Custody Officer -Glasgow, Bellshill, and surrounding areas
- The people in your care and custody will have a variety of different needs and it will be your role to ensure they are met, and those individuals are treated with dignity and respect whilst maintaining a safe, secure, and structured environment
- You have full responsibility for every aspect of the physical and mental well-being of adults in your care, ensuring their health, safety and well-being is a priority
- You will liaise with Prison and Police authorities, ensuring all documentation is completed and correct, carrying out risk assessments on vulnerable or at-risk prisoners
Vehicle-based role - Prisoner Custody Officer -Glasgow, Bellshill, and surrounding areas
- You will escort, supervise and transport prisoners from courts, police stations or prisons
- You will escort, supervise, and transport prisoners to and from hospitals or other outside visits such as to family funerals
- You’ll be responsible for your vehicle each day, carrying out external and internal checks and ensuring it has the right equipment and consumables for the day, like food and water.
Court based role - Prisoner Custody Officer -Glasgow, Bellshill, and surrounding areas
- You’ll work as part of a team to make sure all those in custody are safe, looked after and arrive in the court dock on time
- Carry out custodial duties within a court location
- Maintain security and order in the courtroom and custody suite
- Maintain accurate records and complete relevant documentation related to prisoner movements within the court. These records will be updated on a handheld electronic device
Back Shift working hours
If you join working a backshift, you will be on a 35-hour contract and operate on a 4 on 4 off shift pattern with one additional shift per month to make up your hours. Shift times are 13.00 – 22.00. You will also be eligible for mileage and travel time from your allocated base.

You will be provided with a 5.5-week comprehensive full-time training programme followed by a full week of job shadowing, which will ensure you are fully prepared to take on the role and responsibilities of a front-line Prisoner Custody Officer. Our client is looking for you to have the right behaviours to care for and help people; you’ll need empathy, patience, and the ability to remain calm and composed in stressful situations.
- A basic level of physical fitness and flexibility is required so that you can carry out the role safely.
- A full UK driving licence is required for working within the vehicle base, ideally with Cat C1 or Cat D
