Your new role
This is initially a 9 month Fixed Term Contract, to deliver a Project within the Global Distribution function.
What you'll need to succeed
You will have a demonstrable track record of successful project delivery within distribution networks. Ideally you will be Prince 2 or PMI qualified, and any experience in highly regulated sectors (eg medical / pharma / aero / defence ...) is also an advantage. You will be familiar with Gantt charts and other project delivery tools and techniques, and be comfortable influencing stakeholders across multiple functions, driving collaborative efforts to ensure the right outcomes. You will be commercially aware, with strong planning and organisational skills, with the ability to priorise effectively in a complex business environment. Experience of data analytics is also useful.

As our Strategic Supply Chain Manager you will be responsible for overseeing the strategic direction and delivery for our managed service portfolio of NHS and private clients. Being the main contact for all agency suppliers, both internally and externally, you are an escalation point of contact in supply chain updates, framework changes, and communications and are responsible for ensuring we deliver the best value back to our clients.

This role holds agency suppliers accountable for performance using appropriate KPIs, drives essential operational performance improvement, and ensures that our client's supply chain setup and maintenance work smoothly. You will define, agree and implement change initiatives that not only drive financial value from our clients, but also quality improvements from the supply chain to aid changing client needs.

Every day you will…

Carry out new agency management, including system access, process and procedures, and compliance with Framework and Rate
Oversee and manage the supply chain of 160 suppliers across all staff groups and clients
Holding agencies to account on performance via maintaining and tracking relevant KPI's, reporting outcomes to Trusts and internal operations monthly
Arranging and leading quarterly review meetings on key agency performance with relevant Business Development, Finance, and Recruitment contacts
Negotiate with agencies on behalf of Trusts regarding rates and margins to drive value, including recommendations on supplier reductions or increases where appropriate and in line with needs.
Work closely with the selected suppliers and stakeholders, devising implementation plans on mobilisation of new contracts to ensure a smooth transition.

We are looking for an experienced people manager to join a busy, fast paced environment at our Logistics hub in Blackbushe. Looking after a small team of about ten coordinators, key office staff and yard staff as well as having almost 200 drivers reporting to you, you will need to be able to multitask and think on your feet whilst maintaining a professional and calm aura. You will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Blackbushe Logistics hub ensuring that all vehicle collections and deliveries are completed each day and to monitor performance and provide leadership to the hub team. As well as ensuring the hub operations are on track you will also be heavily involved in the people management of the driver workforce, many of whom are remote and work from home. The ideal candidate will have had experience in holding quality conversations and following corrective and disciplinary procedures as well as dealing with staff absences.

Reporting to the Southern regional hub manager, this role is challenging and varied, no two days are the same. It requires someone who is a very organised, forward thinking, decision maker, and is willing to take on new challenges. Blackbushe is a satellite operation, with our head office based in Birmingham, you will need to make this role your own and build a rapport not only with your direct reports but many other areas of the business.

Responsibilities include:






Manage and be responsible for the day-to-day activities of the hub staff at Blackbushe






Monitor coordinator activity and manage accordingly being mindful of account SLA's






Create a monthly rota for Blackbushe hub staff, authorise annual leave and manage absence, ensuring that full coverage is maintained and minimising overtime.






Have overview of Hub stock levels and ensure hub staff are escalating vehicles onsite 3+ days.






Attend daily teams calls with other shareholders to ensure productivity is maintained and share best practices.






Use the Dimensions time and attendance tool to manage the working time & absences for the drivers in your region (approx. 180)






Ensure all driver timecards are accurate and signed off on a weekly basis in the Dimensions system.






Use the Dimensions time and attendance tool to manage the working time & absences for the hub staff at Blackbushe






Work with and assist the Newport team leader where necessary, including taking their Dimensions duties during their absence.






Monitor driver credit card and fuel card spends using reporting procedures and follow up with appropriate actions, feeding back to the Southern Regional hub manager on a monthly basis.






Maintain a good working relationship with other shareholders in BCAL, at Birmingham, Newport, and the Northern operation.






Carry out quality conversations and concerns meetings with hub staff and drivers.






Implement the company disciplinary policy, through workplace investigations and disciplinary hearings.






Be responsible for the implementation of health and safety at the Blackbushe hub as directed by the policy and the H&S team.






Ensure security at Blackbushe is kept to a high standard, including key storage, daily stock checks, yard checks, perimeter walks.






Maintain a good working relationship with the Blackbushe main site (BCA remarketing).






Attend a monthly LSC (Location safety committee) meeting via teams to discuss and raise Blackbushe specific issues.






Escalate any issues that relate to conduct and performance, health and safety or SLA failures to the Southern Regional Hub Manager.
