Main Duties and Responsibilities The post-holder will be involved in ensuring that any research undertaken at the recruiting site safeguards the well-being of the patients and is conducted according to Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and the Medicines for Human Use (Clinical Trial) Regulations 2004 and Amended Regulations 2006.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY Clinical Responsibilities Work in support / conjunction with the Senior Clinical Trials Coordinator/Clinical Trials Practitioner to manage a number of trials, ensuring trial protocols and governance are strictly adhered to, managed within EU clinical trial directives in accordance with ICH GCP (International Conference on Harmonisation and Good Clinical Practice) and ensuring a duty of care to the patient and their families. Identify patients suitable for entry into clinical trials by attending clinics (screening notes/consultant referral) and Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) meetings. Be aware of and on occasion (and if trained and on the approval log) participate in the informed consent process Support and help coordinate the research patient pathway from screening through to trial closure Ensure that adequate precautions are taken to minimise the risk of cross-infection in relation to the safe disposal of body fluids including blood products. Be aware of and report any side effects as outlined in the protocol, in association with local nursing teams. Maintain adequate patients records and ensure all relevant information is documented in the patients medical and nursing notes. Be responsible for accurate completion of Case Report Forms (CRFs) delegated to them. Responsible for the collection, co-ordination and computerisation of data generated from the clinical trials. If appropriately trained, undertake agreed procedures, in line with trial and Trust procedures, to include: venepuncture, temperature, pulse, blood pressure checks, ECGs, height, weight, urinalysis and measuring O2 sats and respiratory rate. If not appropriately training, ensure these procedures are undertaken by suitably trained staff in line with trial and Trust procedures. Act as a role model for excellence in haematology based research. Portfolio Management and Development Review trial protocols and support the Clinical Trial Lead to identify resource implications for the site. Liaise with the clinical trial lead, medical team/sponsor organisation to co-ordinate the on-study treatment and patient follow up. Liaise with Clinical Trial Set Up staff to help assist in the set-up of trials on site. Assist in completing submissions to Research & Development departments of relevant sites. Process amendments and disseminate information to relevant departments Ensure that accrual data is reported to the Sponsors as required. To be able to provide information to allow for invoice to be raised for payments where appropriate Build strong professional relationships with other departments in order to promote a good working environment. Participate in the presentation of research findings within the Trust. To report adverse incidents and near misses in line with Trust policy. Support the Clinical Trial lead to maintain a dialogue of progress with the Clinical Trials Manager, lead trial consultant and lead investigator. Attend monthly portfolio performance review meetings: identify and act on issues. Provide cover when necessary for annual leave, study leave, sick leave. Professional Development and Leadership The post holder will support the development and implementation of strategies to maintain and increase the level of patient recruitment into haematology clinical trials within KCH and wherever possible help to maintain the high profile of KCH in line with the Haematology strategy To innovate and contribute to the development of Network wide clinical and research policies and procedures. To support the senior clinical trials coordinator and clinical trials manager in ensuring that the Trust is meeting the accrual targets for both CLRN and commercial trials and to take action to address any shortfalls. To implement strategies and systems for quality assurance Attend the training programmes and other relevant education and training days as agreed in your development plan. The elective centre at Charing Cross has been designated a regional Major Revision Centre and handles all the elective practice of Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. The Major Trauma Centre at St Mary’s provides a huge opportunity to gain experience in the management of and surgery related to, high volume major trauma and polytrauma.

For 50% of the week, candidates will be expected to develop a research project and apply for funding under the supervision of a clinical academic orthopaedic surgeon. It is well recognised that many surgeons wish to pursue a higher degree and secure a grant for their research. We are looking for an ICT Site Support Engineer to join us on a full-time, permanent basis at the Science Museum. Working within the ICT team, you will lead the support for the Science Museum's premier events space to ensure our clients receive the best possible experience.

As ICT Site Support Engineer, you will troubleshoot and translate desk and network issues, build new user laptops using Autopilot on Intune, configure network devices and work through projects assigned by ICT. You will also support events by performing pre-checks and configuration, monitoring during events, and post-event reconfigurations so that the space is ready for the next client. When not actively supporting the event space you will provide general 1st and 2nd line ICT support for the Science Museum site.

Laboratory Research Scientist – Briscoe Lab

Project Summary

A Laboratory Research Scientist position is available in the Briscoe lab. The lab aims to understand the molecular and cellular mechanisms that underpin development, using the vertebrate neural tube as a model system.

The lab is looking for a highly motivated, proactive and enthusiastic researcher to help build upon the single-cell transcriptomics technology implemented in Maizels et al. The aim will be to develop affordable new sequencing technologies with increased throughput and resolution, facilitating novel research that would previously not be feasible.
Firstly, this work will feed into multiple on-going projects within the lab studying the transcriptional dynamics that govern cell fate decisions. Additionally, this work will connect with the projects of multiple collaborators working across clinical, diagnostic and commercial settings, who wish to apply the technology to questions spanning cancer therapeutics, immune profiling, brain disorders and neurodegenerative diseases.
The project will involve designing and performing experiments with tissue culture cells and carefully optimising novel genomics protocols. The Laboratory Research Scientist will work in collaboration with other lab members and the ability to work in a team is essential.

Key experience and competencies

To lead the local estates forums in the three Places and other strategic planning or project delivery working groups in order to facilitate project delivery and to provide transformation delivery information and analytical advice and expertise. To report transparently on a monthly basis to the local estates forums and SWL forums on the progress of projects and operational issues, flagging any risks and concerns and advising on their resolution. To proactively and effectively manage stakeholders across NHS SWL and partner organisations across different teams and at all levels, responding to and resolving conflicts between stakeholders through facilitation or other appropriate mechanisms. To employ effective communication, negotiation and influencing skills to enable an effective change management with stakeholders at all levels (including senior management) who may hold differing and contentious views. To present relevant data and analytics to secure buy-in and facilitate resolutions to knotty issues, and to explain complex transformation delivery challenges to a wide range of internal and external stakeholders To provide and convey highly complex, sensitive and contentious information, including presenting information about projects and dependencies to a wide range of internal and external stakeholders in formal settings. To produce papers for ICB committees, as required (Place and SWL level) To ensure that there are close links between estates planning, digital transformation and the net zero carbon agenda. To work closely with the Healthy Urban Development Unit and local authorities to understand current and future pressures for the health estate in the three Places, and ensure that plans and strategies reflect them. To work closely with the local authorities to ensure alignment with the local development plans and other public estates rationalisation, and to ensure that the ICB has access to S106 and CIL funding as appropriate To link in with One Public Estate on potential funding opportunities and joint projects. To be responsible for identifying, managing and escalating key risks to the Deputy Director of Estates.
