We seek a suitable candidate to fulfil the role of Science Technician. The Science department at SMCC has a purpose-built preparation room serving six laboratories. The technician would be required to support the delivery of Science, Biology, Chemistry and Physics to GCSE level.
The role involves taking responsibility for the practical resourcing for KS3 and GCSE classes under the direction of the teaching staff. In-class support of students during experiments would be part of this role. The ability to be proactive in the preparation of planned experiments and reactive to situations that may arise such as spillages or broken equipment is vital. A willingness to be trained as a First Aider is also important.
The successful candidate will be enthusiastic with good communication skills. A knowledge of and passion for science would be highly desirable. Previous experience and/or a willingness to undergo training is essential. Good IT skills including in the use of spreadsheets, word processing, databases and others software would be advantageous. What skills and experience we're looking for

As a science teacher you will:

- Plan and deliver engaging Science lessons to students with a range of special educational needs (SEN), Mainly SEMH (Social Emotional Mental Health)

- Support students' educational and emotional development

- Adapt lessons to cater to varying abilities, ensuring each student reaches their full potential.

- Build positive relationships with both students and staff.

- Provide support to the primary staff in the planning and delivery of the science curriculum to improve subject knowledge.

- Deliver qualifications which are best suited to the learner’s ability to ensure the best outcomes are met for the learners.

TLR

- To support in the development, implementation and monitoring of strategies to improve the quality of education across the school.

- To support SLT in conducting the quality assurance across the school.

- To support staff in understanding the pedagogy which underpins SEMH teaching and how this is implemented within the classroom.

- To offer support to less experienced staff members in teaching and learning.
