The Faculty wishes to recruit a Postdoctoral Research Associate to support the work of Dr. Charles Downing and his theoretical research group in quantum optics, nanophotonics and condensed matter. This Royal Society funded post is available for around 8 months with a start date from November 2024 (at the earliest) to January 2025 (at the very latest). The end date cannot be later than the end of August 2025 due to the funding ending at that point.

The successful applicant will conduct high quality research in theoretical quantum optics and related areas. They will work on current issues interesting the research group, including quantum batteries, non-Hermitian quantum physics and quantum topology.

The Faculty wishes to recruit two Postdoctoral Research Associates to support the work of Dr Craig Beall and Dr Tom Piers. These externally funded posts are available from 1st October 2024 on a fixed-term basis of initially one year, with a second year of funding to be released after a satisfactory progress report at nine months.



The successful applicants will perform laboratory-based research using cell culture models to investigate cell therapies for Type 1 Diabetes. Candidates with prior experience in diabetes research or neuroscience/stem cell biology are encouraged to apply but candidates with relevant experience from other disciplines are also encouraged to apply. We are also recruiting a graduate research assistant in this round (advert reference P96792), to support the project and the work of the two postdoctoral researchers.



The post will include performing 2D and 3D tissue culture using human cell models. There will also be work using organoid and organ-on-a-chip to develop advanced human-relevant in vitro models.



A significant component of work will require experience of cell biology including imaging studies, ELISAs and multiplexing, cell signalling and cell-to-cell communication.



Some intercampus travel may be required.

The UKKA is the leading professional body for the UK renal community, improving lives by supporting professionals in the delivery of kidney care and research. The UK Renal Registry is the part of the UKKA responsible for the collection, analysis, management and development of a high quality clinical renal database. They use data submitted from the 71 adult and 13 paediatric renal centres across the country to create the database. The information, in the form of data and reports, is a shared resource used to develop research into kidney disease to improve the quality of care for renal patients. Main duties 1. Work with key stakeholders, both internal UKKA colleagues and across the participating Kidney Centres (or the relevant assigned Centre), to build an early understanding of the relevant rare disease datasets held in the RaDaR registry and the C3G and IC-MPGN study. 2. Establish effective working relationships with key stakeholders in each assigned Centre, liaising with key contacts to develop an agreed plan for relevant medical records (patients notes and electronic information) and biopsy reports to be accessed. 3.
