The Science Museum Group (SMG) archive and library collection contains around 7 million items and is of outstanding national and international significance. This is an exciting time for SMG's Archives and Libraries with our new strategy setting out how our collections will be the best in the world in our fields. About the role

This role is a full-time (35 hours per week) role on a fixed-term contract for 6 months. Based at the National Railway Museum in York.

As Archive Cataloguer you will create a searchable online catalogue of over 120 boxes worth of documentation, organise the digitisation selected items from the archive, making them available online. You will work with internal departments to preserve fragile digital and paper material and with Campaign for Better Transport to communicate the power of the archive to key stakeholders and interested communities.

About you

Joining us, you will have relevant experience with Archives or Records Management and experience handling, storing and documenting archive collections. You will be able to embrace our commitment to making archive collections accessible to diverse audiences.

Crucially, you will be organised with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively with the ability to complete tasks with accuracy and a good level of attention to detail. You will also be an effective communicator, be able to communicate confidently to a variety of internal and external stakeholders and supervise volunteers.

This role is of great importance to our work as an Academy – the successful applicant will be responsible for teaching and inspiring students across Key Stage 3 and 4 to achieve their potential within Mathematics. This opportunity is open to both ECTs and Experienced Teachers.

The ideal applicant will have:

Either:

• A successful placement (s), teaching at KS3 & KS4 (applicants currently in training)

Or:

• A successful record teaching with very good exam results at one or more of KS3 & KS4 (applicants who have already gained QTS)
• A detailed knowledge of current developments in education including the use of Pupil Premium
• The ability to put vision into practice
