Job Title: Teacher of Design and Technology (Maternity Cover)

Location: Colchester

Start Date: November 2024

Contract: Fixed-term for 1 year (Maternity Cover)

Salary: M1-M6 pay scale (£31,650 - £43,606) depending on experience

About the Role:

We are seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic Teacher of Design and Technology to join our team on a fixed-term basis to cover maternity leave. This role will start in November 2024 and continue for one year. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality Design and Technology lessons to students at KS3 and KS4 levels, ensuring all students are engaged and challenged in their learning.

Key Responsibilities:

- Plan and deliver well-structured Design and Technology lessons to KS3 and KS4 students.

- Create engaging lessons that cater to diverse learning needs and encourage active participation.

- Stay updated on curriculum developments in Design and Technology to enhance lesson content.

- Contribute to the pastoral work of the school through the role of Form Tutor.

- Occasionally teach other areas of the Design and Technology curriculum as needed.

Ideal Candidate:

- Experience: Previous experience teaching Design and Technology is preferred.

- Qualifications: QTS is desirable but not essential if you have the right experience and passion.

- Skills: Excellent subject knowledge with a proven ability to inspire students and deliver successful lessons.

- Commitment: A strong dedication to the holistic development of students, promoting both academic success and social-emotional well-being.

Working in a gang doing Wall prep/slabbing / kerbing as well as operating a Foward Tipping Dumper , some of the work is next to a busy road hence the need for NRSWA card

Keep an accurate register of students for each lesson. Unexplained absences or patterns of absence

Have a thorough and up-to-date knowledge and understanding of the
National Curriculum programmes of study, level descriptors and specifications
for examination courses.

Contribute to the effective use of subject resources, including
evaluation of new materials and equipment.

technology to enhance delivery and student access to the subject.



Professional Standards and Development



1.
Be a role model to students through personal presentation and
professional conduct.

Arrive in class, on or before the start of the lesson, and begin
and end lessons on time. Please do not leave classes unattended.

Be familiar with the School and Department handbooks and support
all the school policies and procedures,

colleagues and associate staff.

Be involved in extra-curricular activities such as making a
contribution to after-school clubs, trips and visits, and whole school events.

Conditions and Teacher Standards, and teachers’ legal liabilities and
