Estates Maintenance Assistant /Driver (10% R&R)

Milton Keynes University Hospital (MKUH) are excited to announce that we have recently had a business case approved to expand our Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) cardiology and respiratory services. We are currently recruiting a number of roles, from Chief Physiologist to Driver, within the Medicine division and Estates department.

Do you hold a valid UK driving license and have experience in general maintenance within Estates? We are looking for multiple Maintenance Assistants within MKUH for substantive positions and Bank only positions.

For Bank only positions, you will be driving between our three sites: Lloyds Court, Milton Keynes Hospital and Whitehouse Park.

The successful candidates will be experienced in general building maintenance across a broad range of buildings, plant and equipment including areas such as Flooring, Domestic Appliances, Building Maintenance and other Building Services. The role will also include being part of a rota for making deliveries to other sites within Milton Keynes on Trust business.

Clinical Research Assistant

Department: Research & Development

Band 3 £24,071 - £25,674 Per annum

This is an exciting opportunity for applicants with patient facing experience and clinical experience with a minimum of 2 A-Levels/NVQ level 3 or equivalent to work within a busy research department with a portfolio of studies and clinical trials covering a range of conditions. These are NIHR supported studies both commercial and non-commercial.

The post holders may be expected to interact with patients and their families in relation to the requirements of the study and be able to work without supervision in some areas. Prior experience is desirable though not essential. The post holders will learn about all aspects of clinical research with a focus on data and documentation and patient care including communication, obtaining, and processing biological samples and organising appointments and investigations.

The position will cover several specialties from Emergency Medicine to Cardiology, Orthopaedics, MSK, Dermatology etc.

Assistant Clinical Research Practitioner

Department - Research & Development

Band 4 £25,147 - £27,596 per annum

18 month fixed term contract until June 2025

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Assistant Research Practitioner with an interest in Diabetes to join MKUH Trust’s Research & Development Department on an 18 month fixed term contract. You will be liaising with clinical teams to recruit eligible patients, support delivery of clinical interventions and conduct tests according to specific study protocols. You will also be responsible for study follow up, data entry, ensuring patient safety and maintaining high levels of quality assurance. You may have the opportunity to be involved in the set-up of new trials and will be required to work within the multidisciplinary team to deliver high quality clinical research. Focus for this role will be the Activate study though activities will not be limited to this.

Candidates with extensive experience in healthcare settings and an interest in Diabetes are preferred for the role. The ideal candidate should possess a Diploma, a degree in Life Sciences, or an NVQ level 3, along with relevant courses or experience. For the position of Assistant Clinical Research Practitioner, familiarity with Clinical Research delivery is desirable.

The Assistant Clinical Research Practitioner will provide clinical and administrative support to the clinical research teams within the Research & Development Department, in the first instance ensuring the safe conduct of research in accordance with the regulatory and legal frameworks relating to the planning, undertaking and closure of research studies, providing assurance that the rights, safety and well-being of trial participants are protected.

The post holder will be supported through a comprehensive training/competency package as appropriate to the job role and will assist in the identification, recruitment, and management of participants into a portfolio of research studies including but not restricted to commercial and non-commercial clinical trials.

Having completed all relevant competencies and under the supervision of registered nursing staff they will also be responsible for the co-ordination and management of a portfolio of research studies that do not involve administration of medicines and contribute to the delivery of clinical trials within bounds of their clinical practice.

The job holder may be required to carry out other similar or related duties which do not fall within the work outlined in the description which may reasonably be required to deliver a comprehensive research service to our patients.
