This is an exciting opportunity to join the Department of Physics at the University of Warwick.

You will provide technical support for the Superconductivity and Magnetism group, helping to maintain and repair apparatus in the sample preparation and characterisation laboratories of the group. The apparatus includes a range of electrical and mechanical devices including furnaces, pumps, and low-temperature (cryogenic) measurement systems.

You will be responsible for the general support of the research group’s activities, carrying out routine maintenance of equipment and housekeeping in the group’s laboratories.

You will also assist in operating and maintaining the Departmental helium recovery plant.

We are looking for a postdoctoral researcher to work on an industrially funded project supporting the testing and optimisation of electrochemical technology for the destruction of perfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) from drinking water. PFAS have been linked to several human health conditions and are present in almost all water sources. However, there are currently no scalable technologies capable of destroying these compounds, due to the strength of the C-F bond. A scaled up (pilot plant) electrochemical system is being trialled for PFAS destruction in conjunction with a collaborating national water company.

The technology will utilise boron doped diamond (BDD) electrodes to destroy PFAS compounds by electrochemical advanced oxidation. Research at Warwick will involve work on a lab-scale electrochemical reactor capable of investigating different experimental conditions, solution matrices etc to run alongside the pilot plant and provide formative feedback. Quantification of PFAS removal from the water systems will be made using in-house analytical equipment at the University of Warwick. This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in a new collaborative venture tackling destruction of persistent and potentially toxic pollutants from drinking water both in the laboratory and in a water treatment facility.

The Warwick Electrochemistry and Interfaces Group (WEIG) is an internationally recognised electrochemistry research group based at the University of Warwick. WEIG is comprised of 30+ members from around the world. The Macpherson group, within WEIG, focuses on electroanalysis and sensing, electrochemical synthesis and treatment, is world-leading for research based around BDD and has close links to industry. Alongside the core research the successful candidate would also work collaboratively with other members of the research group working in similar areas. They will be provided with the space and resources to develop their own personal and career development. The contract is for a fixed term of 12 months, with the possibility of extension subject to further funding being secured.

We seek to appoint a Research Fellow/ Clinical Research Fellow to play a central role in TRANSLATE (Translating evidence for Early Intervention in Psychosis in Low and Lower-Middle Countries LMICs: Implementation and Evaluation) programme of research newly funded as part of the NIHR Global Research Professorship award to Prof. Saeed Farooq. This is an exciting research opportunity for developing and evaluating a new model of care for early psychosis in resource constrained setting. The research programme involves establishing services in number of sites, follow up of participants for one year and evaluating the service using both quantitative and qualitative methods. A nested cohort will be used for developing and validating a prediction model for early recognition of treatment resistant psychosis.

The successful candidate will lead the programme from conception to completion and will work directly under the supervision of Prof Saeed Farooq. You will be based at Keele University, School of Medicine, which incorporates research in mental and global health which is one of University's strategic research areas. You will work closely with early career researchers based at LMIC sites who will be implementing the early intervention in psychosis programme at sites in LMIC countries. You will have the opportunity to use your initiative and creativity to identify areas for research, develop research methods, and extend your research portfolio.

You will have a PhD with an in-depth knowledge and experience in early intervention in psychosis. The understanding of healthcare systems and developing services in LMIC is desirable. Candidates without a PhD will be considered if they have completed clinical training in psychiatry with relevant experience in early intervention in psychosis or related fields and have in-depth knowledge of research methods demonstrated by publications and other research outputs. Ideally you will also have project development and management experience.

The post will be based at Keele for research purposes and in Midlands Partnership University Foundation Trust for clinical work.
Our global health research programme started in January 2017 and current global health projects are funded by GCRF, AHRC, MRC and NIHR. Job Description:

The Department of Statistics, jointly administered by the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Iowa State University, seeks a tenure-track assistant professor with expertise in statistics and data science.  The successful candidate will develop and sustain a high-quality and high-impact research program, successfully compete for external funding, and collaborate with world-class researchers at Iowa State in statistics and other disciplines.  Further, the successful candidate will engage in professional and institutional service, teach graduate and undergraduate statistics courses, and advise graduate students in one of the first and largest statistics graduate programs in the country.

Required Minimum Qualifications:

• A Ph.D. or equivalent degree in statistics or a closely related discipline by start date.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Foundational knowledge of statistics and data science
• The ability to teach statistics courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels
• The ability to develop and sustain a high-impact research program with the potential to secure external research funding
• The ability to collaborate effectively with researchers across various disciplines, such as agriculture, life sciences, and liberal arts and sciences
