R&D Procurement Analyst

As an R&D Procurement Analyst supporting the R&D Procurement team, you will be accountable for obtaining goods/services required by the organization including Indirect Operations (e.g., Office Supplies, Computers, Travel, Maintenance, Machine Parts, etc.), Direct Operations (e.g., Raw Materials and Services for Manufacturing, Production or Construction; Products for Retail, etc.). Procurement processes include Product/Service Sourcing, Supplier Selection, Pricing/Terms Negotiation, Order Processing, Contract Administration, Supplier Performance Management, and Many Strategic Sourcing.
In this role, a typical day will include:
- R&D Indirect Spend (services).
- Execute category strategy.
- Administrative tasks in support of category strategy.
- Facilitate strategic contracting (MSA) process, under the guidance of the Category Manager (negotiation lead)
- Manage contractual-related issues with suppliers where applicable.
- Manage RFPs under the guidance of Category Managers
- Support over negotiation strategies.
- Procurement support for EUMDR PMCF program as required.
- Indirect Procurement Payment Term tracking – all categories**
- Electronic “e-RFP” support
- Productivity entry in ServiceNow
WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO ALCON:
- Bachelor’s degree in science, Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field. Master's degree or relevant certifications (e.g., CSCP, CPSM) are advantageous.
- Proven experience as a Procurement Manager with a focus on clinical outsourcing services or R&D Indirect Services within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or healthcare industry.
- Strong knowledge of clinical outsourcing/R&D indirect services best practices, supplier landscape, and industry regulations.
- Demonstrated expertise in strategic sourcing, contract negotiation, and supplier relationship management.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to assess complex data, market trends, and cost structures.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build and maintain effective relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders. Highly proficient in English.
- Strong project management capabilities, able to handle multiple projects simultaneously and deliver results within deadlines.
- Proficiency in procurement tools, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
