The mathematics department at Boston Spa Academy has an excellent track record of academic success. In the past two academic years, Progress 8 measures for the subject at GCSE were +0.97 and +1.07, placing the department as one of the highest performing in the country. This is further supplemented by our thriving A Level provision, in which Mathematics and Further Mathematics have large numbers of students who achieve exceptionally well. The team consists of 12 teachers, with a Director of Maths, Deputy Director of Maths, and three Assistant Leaders of Maths. With an increased number of students opting to study A Level Maths and Further Maths, we are seeking a candidate who has a passion for mathematics and an ability to teach the subject at KS4 and KS5, as well as teaching across KS3.

The Role:

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Science Teacher to join our outstanding teaching team. You will be responsible for teaching Science to students in Years 7 to 11, delivering engaging and creative lessons that develop and engage our students to think like a scientist. You will be a part of a forward-thinking, collaborative and supportive department that values innovation in teaching and a commitment to student success. As Key Stage 4 Leader, you will ensure successful delivery of the GCSE curriculum. Ensuring that students are making positive progress towards their end goals, as well as leading the team in effective teaching and learning strategies that supports students to get there. A dynamic and forward thinking team player will help us to develop and shape this next phase of our journey towards excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan and deliver high-quality Science lessons to students in Years 7-11, adhering to the national curriculum.
• Deliver lessons that support students to acquire and retain scientific knowledge
• Assess and monitor students’ progress, providing feedback to help them achieve their personal and academic goals.
• Foster a classroom environment based on mutual respect, inclusivity, and a love of learning.

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

• Must hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
• Strong subject knowledge of Science, with the ability to teach up to GCSE level.
