The Laboratory is part of the East NHS Genomic Laboratory Hub. This is one of seven Genomic Hubs established to provide the National Genomic Medicine Service for NHS England, led by Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, and working with Nottingham University Hospital and University Hospital Leicester. More detail about the role: We are a small but busy department providing a wide range of non-invasive investigations and are currently looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated and hardworking senior cardiographer to join the team. The role is focussed on ambulatory analyses and reporting and supporting the cardiac physiologist in exercise tolerance tests. We can also offer flexible working with the opportunity to work from home 1 day per week. There is opportunity to train in respiratory diagnostics, spirometry and Pulmonary Function tests. The department offers a comprehensive range of non-invasive investigations including ECG, ambulatory monitoring, physiologist led exercise tolerance tests, Pacing and ICD FU, as well as a large remote monitoring service covering the north and west of the county. NDDH recently merged with our larger acute hospital neighbour Royal Devon and Exeter, who we have close links with and they provide invasive diagnostics and therapies for our patients within their cardiac catheterisation labs, that cater for cardiac angiography and angioplasty, run a 24-hour Primary PCI service, as well as performing EP procedures and implant pacemaker, ICD and CRT devices. The successful candidate will have passed the SCST Certificate in ECG or SCST Diploma in ECG or Level 4 Healthcare Science Apprenticeship in cardiology and have had at least 2 years experience as a cardiographer. A Healthcare Science Associate is part of a clinical support team whose purpose is to provide timely and accurate high quality scientific information that will assist service users from the hospital and community, in the establishment of a clinical diagnosis and monitoring of patient treatment. The Healthcare Science Associate will use practical skills to carry out tasks associated with the pre-analytical preparation of specimens, analysis of a limited range of tests and post analytical duties. This includes day to day management of Quality Assurance Schemes within the Blood Sciences Department and managing Point of Care Testing analysers across the Trust. Specimen reception: To deal with the reception, sorting and labelling of patient specimens, identifying inadequate and mislabelled specimens and ensuring urgent samples are prioritised. Data entry, preparing specimens for analysis, including booking in-patient and specimen details, storing, retrieving and disposing of specimens.
