JOB PURPOSE:

You will provide competent quality management advice to promote compliance to ISO 9001: 2015 in the review, audit, certification, induction and management of procedures and processes in electrical infrastructure construction projects.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

1. Provide Quality Management advice about ISO 9001: 2015 to other advisors, managers, employees, contractors and clients, both in the tendering and construction phases. 5. Provide a monitoring function to ensure that suppliers, subcontractors and the services they provide exceed our quality management system expectations. Our client is currently seeking an Apprentice Software Tester based on their customer site in Dover (Kent) This is a full-time, temporary role for 16 months. These are full time, permanent positions within Swale Borough Council’s Community Safety Control Centre. We are seeking a skilled Quality Technician to join a well- established manufacturing company based in Sandwich, Kent. The ideal candidate will be responsible for monitoring production processes, identifying potential problems and malfunctions, and ensuring that all manufacturing and engineering processes meet validation requirements. The Quality Technician will play a key role in resolving quality issues through a structured process, completing inspection reports, and monitoring the calibration system to ensure equipment is continually calibrated to schedule.

Due to the nature of the work all candidates must be eligible to obtain security clearance to SC level.

Key Responsibilities:

- Monitor production processes and identify potential problems and malfunctions

- Validate manufacturing and engineering processes, including on-the-job training

- Resolve quality issues through a structured process

- Complete inspection reports accurately and in a timely manner

- Monitor the calibration system and ensure equipment is continually calibrated to schedule

Requirements:

- Minimum of 4 years of engineering experience, with a strong background in QA

- Understanding of ISO standards

- HNC/HND (or equivalent) in an engineering discipline

- ISO9001 or AS9100 internal auditor qualification

- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail

- Strong communication and teamwork skills

- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment

Main Duties:

• Dismantle hydraulic and mechanical components into their sub-components.
• Conduct a range of inspection tasks, including:
  • Analysing technical documents.
  • Troubleshooting and diagnosing issues.
  • Detecting signs of wear, damage, or corrosion on components.
  • Using precise calibrated measurement tools.
  • Completing and updating digital documentation.
• Assemble hydraulic and mechanical systems and components from technical specifications, preparing them for final testing and review.
• Ensure compliance with quality standards set by CAA, EASA, FAA, and company policies.
• Follow health, safety, and environmental guidelines.
• Perform additional tasks as needed to support operations or other business requirements.

Candidate Profile:

• Experience in mechanical or hydraulic engineering.
• Strong literacy and numeracy skills, with at least GCSE (or equivalent) in Maths and English.
• Excellent analytical, administrative, and organizational abilities with a strong eye for detail.

Key responsibilities within your new role would be to:

Check first offs that the setter or operator require second checking

Record non-conforming products
Create quality documentation

Experience and skills required for this position:
The ability to read engineering drawings.
The ability to use a range of measuring equipment i.e. - vernier caliper, micrometre, height gauge, slip gauges, clock & stand, depth micrometres etc.
Knowledge of specific quality tools and equipment eg. RA surface tester, CMM, shadow graphs and x-ray would be an advantage.
Calibration of equipment and gauges.
Working knowledge of Microsoft applications including Excel, Word and Outlook.
Good mathematical skills.
Excellent attention to detail.
Good organisational skills.
Good communication skills.
Problem solving ability.
