Lead Internal Quality Assurer (Maternity Cover)

Main Purpose of the Role

To have overall responsibility for internal quality assurance of provision within the area of responsibility. To implement and support monitoring and applying compliance with SCL’s Gold Standards. To maintain and improve SCL’s quality certifications and direct claim status. This will include leading and supporting inspections and audits conducted by external agencies and to support the self-assessment process to promote quality improvement across all divisions.

Key Responsibilities

The IQA will lead in the delivery and assessment of high-quality learning and qualifications for learners and drive robust IQA processes for Study programmes. The IQA will ensure learners achieve their planned learning aim and make progression. The IQA will work with SCL’s Director of Quality, National Quality Manager and Quality Improvement team to ensure the wider SCL quality strategy is implemented. The IQA will manage and collect feedback from learners on programme and monitor quality of delivery within the programmes on offer and report changes in quality and compliance on trends on the learner journey to the National Quality Manager.

Key Skills

• Level 5 Teaching qualification.
• 5+ years’ experience of BTEC and/or NCFE delivery and assessment.
• Strong analytical skills.
• Exceptional attention to detail
• Strong communication skills and the ability to multitask and influence.
• Able to build working relationships at senior level.
• GCSE English and Maths (C or above or key skill equivalent)
• Competent in Microsoft packages and the ability to pick up systems quickly)

To monitor departmental change requests and action logs, supporting the Operational Team and ensuring compliance is met. To support the automated medicines cabinets (Omnicells) team in the management and compliance of the automated drug cabinets to ensure that medicines management and legislation is complied with. To support the implementation of new pharmacy processes, ensuring appropriate change control is utilised and regulated to deliver the Pharmacy Medicines Optimisation Strategy. To support the pharmacy Governance & Safety Team with Datix investigations and provide the SLT with assurance of relevant preventative or corrective actions. Responsible for the review and auditing of all relevant Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Clinical Operating Procedures (COPs) for the operational delivery in the dispensaries, and stores areas on both sites (UHCW & Rugby St Cross). Responsible for ensuring all mandatory inspections and audits relating to the Wholesaler Dealer License and Quality systems for the clinical areas are completed, documented and reported back to the RP. To work with the pharmacy IT/EPR team, ensuring regular system challenges form part of the Assurance calendar and contingency plans are fit for purpose. Are you a ready now Clinical Pharmacy Leader looking for the next challenge in your career? An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and dedicated pharmacist to lead the trust medicines assurance and pharmacy governance at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust.

The opportunity has arisen as the current post holder will be on maternity leave, therefore a fixed term contract (secondment considered) is being advertised.

The primary role of this post is the professional strategic leadership of the Trust Medicines Assurance Framework and Pharmacy Governance. Also act as the professional secretary for the Trust Medicines Optimisation Committee (MOC) and Chair of the Medicines Policy and Practice Committee (MPPC).

The post holder will play a key strategic role in supporting the Director/Deputy Director of Pharmacy and Trust Quality team to ensure all our medication related committees and groups focus their outputs towards statutory Trust assurance needs, internal continual improvement and aligning towards a progressive Trust Medicines Optimisation Strategy.

As the secretary of the centralised Trust MOC, support Chairs of the committees and groups which are closet to clinical practice and the enablement of innovative practice. All committees output and reporting being accountable to MOC.

At an ICS level the post holder will also support the medicines governance group via the delegated authority of the Pharmacy Governance Team which includes the Medication Safety Officer (MSO).

The post holder is supported by an experienced Pharmacy Governance Team, Trust Medicines Safety Officer (MSO) and Lead Pharmacist - Clinical Guidelines and PGD’s (see attached structure charts). The post holder will also provide direct line management of the supportive structure. Medication Assurance has also been transformed by the introduction of our Electronic Patient Record (EPR) system (Cerner), the team and post holder will support the EPR Pharmacy team closely.

· Be able to effectively support a team member who is experiencing distress which could affect working performance.

· Participate and lead team meetings, huddles maintaining effective communications between all staff members, departmental, trust wide and externally.

Educational

· Attend study days/ courses relevant to needs identified on Professional Development review.

· Attend Trust Mandatory study days in accordance with Trust Policies.

· Ensure revalidation and registration requirements are maintained in line with NMC and HCPC guidelines.
