Satellite Delivery Centre, Bridgwater. Regular travel to HPC required (minimum of 2 days per week at SDC and HPC site each)
The Opportunity… We are currently looking to recruit into the position of Deputy Head of Delivery Integration as a temporary development role to support succession into the Head of Delivery Integration role pending retirement of the incumbent.
The prime function of the role is to protect the HPC Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) baseline schedule.
The position is a senior role within the PMO, reporting initially to the Head of Delivery Integration with responsibilities to provide insight and intelligence to Project and Area Leadership in the timely identification of performance issues followed by support for optioneering and effective deployment of any mitigations.
This role is a leadership role and will be providing day to day line management to a diverse team of c.35 personnel who provide both direct and indirect support to the Area Delivery Teams around the ‘Mantra’ of:
- Driving Critical Path Activities
- Milestone Adherence (Bulk work)
- Clarity of Performance against Baseline
Much of the team mission is centred around resolution of schedule sequence issues (HotSpots) to secure the above, you will also ensure effective deployment of core Project Delivery Model (PDM) Delivery Integration (DI) related processes within the respective programmes and areas and escalate non-compliance issues as required. Who you are… You will be working closely with the Delivery, Construction & Planning Teams to ensure that a clean and de-clashed Construction schedule is available at the 16wkla horizon to allow unconstrained schedule delivery. This will require a good understanding of the lifecycle construction and commissioning sequences.
You will be supporting the Project Directorate and Area leadership to highlight any potential performance gaps between the L4 plan forecast plan and baseline requirements, this will require attendance at routine Directorate meetings to present clear, concise and balanced information for discussion and action if necessary.
You will be providing oversight and support to Area Delivery Managers & Directors to ensure that:
- HotSpots presenting threats to baseline schedule delivery over the short, medium and long terms are effectively identified and resolved.
- Delivery Work Packs (DWPs) are produced to the right quality and in a timely manner.
- Interface Data Sheets (IDSs) are produced as required by the IWS baseline and have full stakeholder sign-on in order to ensure smooth contract handovers.
You will be working closely with the PCMs to ensure that performance gaps are detected early, causes are understood and recommended recovery options presented to appropriate owners and stakeholders for action. You will also support the Risk Team to ensure that any relevant risks are identified and that the proposed mitigation plans are effective.
The role requires strong influencing skills, a flexible approach and someone with the willingness and ability to take on a wide variety of challenges in parallel with managing the Team’s core work. For example there has recently been strong focus on the development and management of schedule visualisation and interrogation tools, including 4D as well as helping to integrate data across the project.
The role location requires presence at Hinkley Point C site and/or Satellite Office on a minimum of 3 or 4 days per week, there may be need to travel to other locations on occasion.
