As the head of clinical assurance and improvement you will be responsible for the clinical oversight and clinical leadership of the Specialist Benefit element of the Health Assessment Advisory Service (HAAS) contract and will play a key role in engaging with the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) on assuring the quality of report outputs. This will include managing the contractual quality mechanism of the contract and disseminating learnings from this to the organisation. The role will engage with our learning and development, and clinical authorship teams and act as internal Serco sign-off for Specialist Benefit related materials. Similarly, this role will have accountability for driving clinical quality improvement activities within our Specialist Benefits operation.
Reporting directly into the Head of Quality and Clinical Standards for HAAS, you will also work with clinical and operational leaders within the Specialist Benefits team and the wider HAAS to ensure that quality assurance and improvement activities are integrated in a way that delivers results for claimants, the DWP and for Serco.
Your main responsibilities:
- Ensure the effective delivery of induction, mandatory and specialist training throughout the business, including onsite and virtual delivery.
- Lead on the development of Clinical Governance, Quality Improvement, and clinical assurance activities within their scope of practice.
- Analyse and interpret highly complex professional, clinical governance, healthcare quality and DWP data.
- Ensure that all Clinical Incident and safeguarding issues are appropriately investigated and reported, supporting the respective leads in these areas.
- Develop and deliver a range of reports that support governance, assurance, and improvement activities.
- Engage in external activity to ensure continuous development of the Clinical Governance, Quality Improvement, and claimant Safety agenda in line with national drivers.
- Support the Training and Development function to ensure that training plans and training content within the contract reflect clinical governance priorities and ongoing factors identified as risk areas.
- Develop a culture of clinical governance within Specialist Benefits delivery, ensuring that clinical governance is at the heart of delivery in both strategic and operational planning terms.
- Leads the development and review of the quality improvement plan within their professional scope.
- Achieves clinical objectives whilst operating flexibly in an environment of change and prioritising activities accordingly to meet the demands of the organisation.
What you’ll need to do the role:
- Medical professional registration with the GMC
- Approved status within Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit Assessments and Prescribed Diseases, respiratory diseases assessments, Veteran Agency assessments, International Pensions Benefit Health Assessments, and file work, and HMRC Assessments
- Extensive experience in coaching, clinical support, training, and clinical audit within the above assessment processes.
- Knowledge of, and experience of discussing cases with DWP and managing the contractual quality measurement audit sample.
