About the Role

As a Highway Authority, Leicestershire County Council has a statutory responsibility to manage its highway (network) in an effective manner, to control and reduce congestion and provide a high level of safe and reliable journeys to the road user.

The Network Management Service, within the Council’s Highways & Transport Operations division, takes an active role in the implementation of the Council’s Local Transport Plan with a primary focus on the Management, Coordination, and Inspection of Temporary Road and Street Works as well as Events which affect the Highway, which is a statutory responsibility for network management.

The Streetworks Compliance Inspector role makes an essential contribution to the delivery of The Council’s statutory responsibility under the New Roads and Street Works Act 1991 and achieves this by inspecting activities carried out on Leicestershire’s Highway Network under the governance of all relevant regulations, statutory guidance, and codes of practice, to ensure compliance and when necessary, take actions and apply penalties to enforce these controls.

The nature of the work may involve you carrying out work outside of normal working hours and at different locations than your designated base.

This role is a “Safety Critical Post” and, consequently, subject to random drug and alcohol testing in accordance with our policies and procedures. A copy of our Substance Misuse Policy and Procedure is available upon request.

About You

To apply for this post, you must hold or have:

• NVQ4 or equivalent, e.g. BTEC Higher in Civil Engineering & NRSWA 1991 Supervisor accreditation, or demonstratable evidence of skills and experience in the Job Specification.
• Experience of working within highways maintenance or civil engineering sectors and of working with utility providers.
• Experience of using IT in a design office/ business environment including Microsoft Office or equivalent software and of interpreting and writing technical and non-technical reports and providing technical advice or drawings.
• Experience of problem investigation and assessment.
• Knowledge of current highways legislation, including the New Roads & Street Works Act and the Highway Act, together with highway design standards, construction methods and specialist materials.
• Knowledge of highway inspection procedures and standards, of traffic management legislation and practice and of Highways Act and CDM regulations.
• Experience of communicating with a range of audiences, including presentation and telephone skills together with the ability to remain calm and positive in challenging circumstances & can respond confidently to customers and colleagues with understanding and diplomacy whilst maintaining an objective and professional stance.

Purpose:

• To inspect, assess and report upon the condition of roadside and other trees, ascertain the ownership of trees on private land and provide technical information for the serving of notices to remedy defects. To undertake specific inspections to gather information on the progression of Ash die-back.
• To maintain and update computerised tree inventories and inspection records, issue work instructions to contractors where required, and carry out a range of other forestry and arboricultural related tasks.
• Must be flexible in taking on additional tasks, willing to offer help to staff in other groups, and treat co-operation and support for colleagues as a top priority.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

• Carry out regular inspections trees adjacent to the highway and on other sites to identify defects which could be hazardous to the public or property, and locate their positions on plans.
• Ascertain the ownership of any trees with defects.
• Prepare reports and associated plans on defective trees so that notices to remedy defects can be sent out.
• Check after appropriate interval whether or not remedial works have been carried out and report back.
• Maintain and update records of tree inspections.
• Create, maintain and update inspection records and inventories of trees in the ownership of the organisation.
• When required, carry out specific inspections of sites to monitor the progression of Ash Die-back and when appropriate, make recommendations on management requirements.
• Prepare reports on the findings of such inspections.
• Input, maintain and extract computer database information.
• When required, issue work instructions to contractors to carry out work identified, including supervision and inspection of work on completion.
• Keep up-to-date with the principles of forestry and arboricultural practice, including identification of tree and shrub species and associated diseases and disorders.
• Take telephone and other technical messages for all senior staff in their absence.
• Assist with the provision of the forestry and arboricultural service, as required.
• Assist in dealing with emergencies and planned events associated with sphere of work by telephone and/or personal attendance on site as required.
• Occasionally, this may include evenings, early mornings, weekends, Bank Holidays etc. (for which time off in lieu or overtime will be allowed).
• Such other duties as may be required relating to the function of the Department, as directed by the Manager/Forestry Team Leader.

What you'll need to succeed

• BTEC or equivalent Level 3 in Arboriculture, Level 4 desirable
• Experience in forestry/ arboriculture, including decision-making on tree health, structural safety, pathogens and appropriate preventative remedial work.
• Membership with the Arboricultural Association is desirable.
• Knowledge of identifying trees and shrubs and tree pathogens.
• Recognition of physiological tree defects, diseases and disorders.
• Knowledge of visual tree assessment
• Map reading skills
• Able to compose detailed reports appropriately levelled at the recipient
• Good communication - must be tactful and be able to deal sympathetically with the public, tree-owners, etc
• Able to work to time limits and to handle a number of activities at once.

Job Details

• Leading assurance and control reviews of all processes across Insurer Services, including supplier elements
  
• Providing full and clear visibility of all controls and assurance activities across all processes
  
• Ensuring all necessary controls are in place and effective, and driving control enhancements via implementation of further preventative controls using systems, tools and processes to optimal effectiveness and efficiency
  
• Ensuring the right level of assurance is in place across all processes in the most effective way, with visibility and tracking of all assurance activities and subsequent review actions
  
• Leading the Insurer Services input and coordination for any regulatory and cross functional initiatives or activities and leading/coordinating deep dive reviews and assurance activities for specific regulatory, conduct and performance outcomes, driving and tracking identified actions through to successful delivery
  
• Creating and maintaining regular reporting for Insurer Services assurance and controls

Are you an experienced HGV driver who likes driving on the roads at night?

If so, we have the perfect role for you.

You will be delivering soft drinks around the UK; you will be completing 2 to 5 drops per shift but also collecting a variety of different products as well. please note handballing may be required depending what run you are on.


All considerable candidates must have:
- a Driving Licence, Digi Card and a CPC Card.
- Have a minimum of 1 year experience driving HGV 1 vehicles
- Be older than 21 years old.
- Have no more than 6 points on your licence.


This is an ongoing role

Shifts starts can vary anywhere from 16:00 and 19:00
They will last between 8 to 12 hours.
Saturday and Sunday shifts are available.


Pay rates are:
£17.50 per hour Monday to Friday.
£19.50 per hour Saturday.
£21.50 per hour Sunday

The rate of pay is £21.10 per hour paid via our Umbrella provider.

You can choose to get paid through PAYE, meaning the pay is £17.50 per hour and in addition to this, we offer full pay for 28 days of annual leave, which will make the hourly rate £19.06 per hour including your holiday accrual.

A client within the Public Sector based in Leicestershire is currently recruiting for Building Control Surveyor to join their team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full time, contract position on an ongoing basis with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority.

The Role

Key purpose of the role is to ensure that the health, public safety, welfare and convenience of persons in or around buildings and structures which are subject to Building Control procedures is protected.

Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

• examine deposited plans to ensure that proposed work satisfies the relevant requirements.
• carry out site visits to ensure that building work is carried out in accordance with the requirements of the Building Act and other relevant legislation.
• visit sites, make reports and take action in relation to dangerous structures and demolition sites.
• undertake enforcement procedures in relation to building work not in compliance with legal requirements.
• examine plans and make visits to sports grounds which are subject to the Sports Grounds Act and to check temporary stands used in connection with sports and entertainments

The Candidate

To be considered for this role you will require to be a registered Class 2 (a-f) building surveyors

It will be essential to be in possession of the below:

• experience of protection of health and safety by the assessment of building work and the requirement of any necessary changes to ensure compliance with the Building Regulations and associated legislation.
• experience of provision of adequate fire safety and means of escape in case of fire in buildings and sports grounds.
• Experience of protection of the public in relation to dangerous structures, demolitions and attendance at sports grounds.
• require provision to be made in building work to ensure adequate conservation of fuel and power.
• enforce the relevant requirements of the Building Regulations which make provision of access to and facilities in buildings for disabled persons

• Supervise activities carried out by matrix-managed staff and/or people temporarily deployed for projects (e.g. to issue/oversee/check work and set priorities)
• Explore and understand the views of the team and adapt style and behaviour as necessary to ensure positive outcomes. Show respect for the views of others by recognising their contribution and valuing diversity.
• Plan and lead the Team response to complex applications for Building Control and other permissions including negotiating and/or agreeing the 'terms of engagement'.

The Candidate

To be considered for this role you will require to have extensive knowledge of the Building Act, Building Regulations and ancillary legislation as well as a Full Membership of RICS, CABE or CIOB.

It will be essential to be in possession of the below:

• Extensive experience in a relevant Building Control environment
• Experience of effective management of staff and resources
• Experience of making decisions on legal and technical building control and other related matters, ensuring that all decisions are consistent with the organisational policies and other material considerations.

Van drivers (with FLT) - Immediate start - Leicester.

You will be working with our well established team at a National collections company as a collections driver in Leicester.

Your job role will be starting out of the Leicester depot and conducting around 6 collections with regular customers daily. There will also be an element of supporting the warehouse with the loading/unloading for the following day so you must be an excellent team player who isn't afraid to get stuck in with the role.

Applicants for this role will need to have:

- You must hold a full UK driving licence
- Have no more than 6 points (no DD/DR endorsements)
- You must be over the age of 26 years
- You must have at least 1 years previous van driving experience.
