Your Role
As our Head of Corporate Compliance and Ethics, you'll be the linchpin in designing, developing and ensuring that Sizewell C has a best in class compliance programme which aligns with the Sizewell C vision of “The Power of Good for Britain”. This senior role demands a visionary leader with exceptional ethical judgement who can inspire, develop and implement a holistic corporate compliance framework in a complex environment. At Sizewell C we believe in bringing a lasting change for the better and, alongside the usual requirements across anti-bribery and corruption, fraud, modern slavery and whistleblowing, this role will engage closely with our ESG and wider teams to ensure we are meeting the highest standards in business ethics.
You'll work closely with internal stakeholders (particularly ESG, risk and commercial) with a direct line into the Chair of the Audit and Risk Committee, to ensure full integration of corporate compliance controls into the Sizewell C project. Sizewell C has a complex group of stakeholders and our ethics and compliance arrangements need to meet the high expectations of external investors, lenders, HMG, regulators and our local communities – this is a huge opportunity for someone to develop a compliance programme which defines future models for wider energy, construction and infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities
Leading Sizewell C’s corporate compliance arrangements with accountability to define and implement the corporate compliance strategy and agenda.
Designing new operational strategies and an appropriate compliance policy framework, aligned to our Code of Conduct, using a risk-based approach to identify, prioritise, and implement effective solutions.
Deliver and maintain adequate compliance policies, procedures and arrangements, ensuring Sizewell C’s compliance with its legal and ethical compliance obligations whilst supporting the delivery and commercial functions with day-to-day ethics and compliance queries and issues.
Communicating and influencing business culture; manage relationships with Sizewell C’s directors, executive function, and senior leadership team.
Responsibility for managing the corporate compliance team (sat within Sizewell C’s legal function), including budget responsibility.
Provide expert guidance and training to internal stakeholders on compliance matters.
Regularly report to the Audit and Risk Committee and develop strong relationships with key stakeholders.
What We’re Looking For
Extensive experience in a lead compliance role, ideally within infrastructure, investment services, consultancy, pharmaceuticals, trade, or private banking.
Certified International Corporate Compliance and Ethics Professional preferred.
Deep understanding of regulatory requirements, including UKBA and FCPA.
Proven ability to influence and communicate effectively at the executive and board level.
Strong commercial acumen, strategic mindset, and excellent analytical skills.
Exceptional project management skills and ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
