The Pharmacy Department requires an experienced and adaptable Pharmacy Technician to be involved in the day to day management of a variety of computer systems and the review / development / change within the purchasing section of the pharmacy department. This is a 12 month fixed term post to cover maternity leave.

• You will be a highly motivated individual with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and having the ability to effectively work with a small team of staff in the purchasing section and the pharmacy team as a whole. You will be responsible for the day-to-day co-ordination of the purchase of pharmaceuticals ensuring the appropriate purchasing of stock for the pharmacy and it’s customers.

KEY DUTIES
• To act as the System Manager for the Pharmacy CMM Stock Control system.
• To work under the direction of the Principal Clinical Pharmacist – Medicines Optimisation in managing the purchasing section of the pharmacy to ensure that the purchase transactions of pharmaceuticals is processed accurately and efficiently to meet the section’s customers’ needs.
• To source and purchase pharmaceuticals according to departmental standard operating procedures and Trust standing financial orders.
• To work with the Principal Clinical Pharmacist – Medicines Optimisation in reviewing / developing / changing purchasing and distribution arrangements for pharmaceuticals within the Trust to increase the efficient availability of medicines for all customers.
• To work alongside the EPMA Pharmacy team to ensure the effective management of the CMM Pharmacy Computer System.
• To assist in the implementation and maintenance of a ‘purchasing for safety’ policy to promote procurement of products with inherent safety features.
• To assess deliveries of unlicensed medicines for suitability and release them from quarantine according to the unlicensed medicines procedure.

Identify where improved patient care or savings might be achieved through rationalisation of a product, commodity group or suppliers' entire catalogue portfolio. Manage the introduction of new products in relation to clinical consumables and surgical items, ensuring objective rationale is applied to clinical governance and value for money issues. In conjunction with clinicians and Purchasing & Supplies staff review products, catalogues and suppliers, ensuring opportunities to consolidate and aggregate expenditure and replenishment processes are optimised. Provide nursing advice and support to the Purchasing & Supplies Department on all operational issues facing end user staff. Liaising at all levels to ensure effective feedback to aid continuous improvement. In conjunction with procurement and clinical staff, identify and calculate financial savings attributable to the actions of the clinical procurement specialist and report these consistent with the department's performance indicators. Determine information needs relating to effective product utilisation and evaluation within clinical practice. Co-ordinate and lead on product evaluation projects, taking account of research, innovation, clinical evidence, clinical need, benefits, disadvantages and value for money considerations. Identify research gaps in product information and where appropriate prepare research proposals and seek external support for clinical Liaising as required with procurement colleagues and the Research and Development Department to secure contractual arrangements. Where appropriate, support nursing research and practice development colleagues in training, education and practice development activity. Liaise with staff development managers and clinicians regarding education and development needs, emanating from Product Evaluation and Selection initiatives. Arrange and participate in workshops, seminars and study days in consultation with and gaining support from, suppliers and educationalists. Undertake special projects or any other reasonable duty as directed by the Head of Purchasing & Supplies. KEY DUTIES To work as part of the multi-disciplinary team undertaking household support tasks. To accept responsibility for specifically delegated functions within theatres which the Team Leader feels are appropriate for untrained staff to undertake. To ensure the health and Safety of patients and staff are considered at all times. To ensure that privacy and confidentiality of patients is paramount and is not compromised. To be aware and assist with maintaining stock levels in theatres for clinical and non-clinical items, Ensure that theatre supplies are appropriately stored and that stocks are at the levels set by the materials management team All stock is to be checked against delivery note and put away when brought from logistics on a weekly/daily basis and ensure correct correspondence with purchase invoices and report any discrepancies. To ensure stock is rotated according to their expiry dates. To ensure the theatre department including non-clinical areas are clean and tidy at all times. To maintain staff changing rooms. To ensure the scrubs holding area is clean and tidy at all times. To maintain staff tearoom fridges and microwaves as per Trust Policy. To maintain infection control and prevention as per trust policy. To comply with all other Trust policies and procedures. To collect/deliver items or messages to and from departments within the Trust This role involves moving and handling of bulk stock items using various methods such as stock cages and trolleys. Relevant training will be provided as required. TEACHING & TRAINING RESPONSIBILITIES To attend regular mandatory update training, fire lectures, moving and handling and resuscitation training within the requirements of the trusts health and safety policy. To support learners in the area as own skills develop. Assist in the training and developing for individuals undergoing training in your area.

Act as first point of contact for clinical, technical and admin colleagues with regard to spares and stock, resolving any issues and report any serious concerns to the Wheelchair Repair Team Lead in a timely manner. Using knowledge of wheelchairs within services range, allocate required spare parts to technical colleagues to enable completion of repairs, updating records as required. Encourage refurbishment parts by liaising with colleagues to ensure task is completed. Act as cover for Admin Assistants during unexpected periods of leave, including liaising with patients, clinical and technical colleagues, using the asset database to raise job requests. Act as cover for the Delivery Driver (including assisting with scrap runs) during periods of absence, including the deliver and handover of basic wheelchair equipment. Assist Field Engineers/Wheelchair Repair Team Lead by completing basic wheelchair repairs in the community when required.
