Procurement plays a vital role in driving forward waste reduction programmes, compliant contracting and supporting the sustainable and social economic agenda for the organisation. In recognition of this MFT have created a Finance and Procurement Business Unit and invested in a state-of-the-art modern facility for staff based at Trafford General Hospital, the birthplace of the NHS.
The roles themselves will commence as Band 5 Buyers with a planned development pipeline for successful candidates to progress towards promotion to a Band 6 Senior Buyer provided that Core and Technical abilities are completed. This progressive process could take up to 24 months.
To provide a proactive, efficient and responsive procurement service, with particular emphasis on procuring value for money products and services contracts, generating non-pay savings for the Trust in accordance with cost efficiency targets. To adhere to Procurement legislation and Trust Standing Financial Instructions, whilst awarding robust, compliant contracts with relevant and manageable KPI’s.
The role will support CALM (Capital, Assets, Leasing and Maintenance) across all MFT sites. Supporting on the Capital purchase, leasing and maintenance of all medical equipment for the Trust with other responsibilities. The key focus of this role is to support the maintenance and leading of medical equipment.
There are times when conflicting priorities may present themselves, so prioritisation and time management of workload is a key skill. These posts holds responsibility for undertaking complex and high value procurement and associated contract negotiations on behalf of the Trust. The post will also be expected to work collaboratively with Procurement colleagues across Greater Manchester as appropriate.
