Gundersen Health System is looking for a detail oriented individual to join our Purchasing team as a Buyer.
What You'll Do:
The buyer is responsible for accurately processing purchase requests for lab supplies, general/ specialized medical, clinical supplies and services. This individual will consult with suppliers to research purchase options and to overall obtain the best products and services at the lowest cost to Gundersen Health System.
What's Available:
Fulltime, 80 hours biweekly (1.0 FTE)
Schedule: Monday-Friday days
Location: West Salem, Wisconsin
Training: ~4-6 weeks Onsite - After training the role does have ability to shift to a remote basis; However, must be within driving distance to our West Salem location and attend in-person meetings as needed
Starting salary of $50,500 + more based on years of experience

Job Description:
The Senior Buyer is responsible for providing purchasing assistance to higher level department staff regarding purchasing fundamentals of Gundersen Health System practices, procedures, and policies. Under minimal supervision, responsibilities include technical and professional level duties.
The Senior Buyer is responsible for accurately processing purchase orders for general and specialized medical supplies, clinical supplies, medical equipment, services, and consulting with suppliers to research purchases. This position is responsible for maintaining equipment standards and working with stakeholders for Capital and Non-Capital equipment purchases and services. Overall obtaining the best products and services at the lowest cost to Gundersen Health System.
Customer service is the focus of the Senior Buyer role, providing consultation to internal customers in Purchasing Operations and ERP system policies and processes. This position requires close contact with Gundersen Health System business owners to provide guidance on marketplace, product and service options, order status, and pricing information for complex purchases.
Major Responsibilities:
1. Liaise with Category Manager(s) and leadership to execute Category strategy. Provides input, guidance, and support for projects within the assigned Category.
2. Provide knowledge and guidance for complex purchase requisitions and purchase orders for non-stock supplies, equipment, and services. Guide internal customers on the most efficient and cost-effective way to obtain the highest quality supplies, equipment, and services.
3. Competently use ERP system to process orders, document order confirmations, review match exceptions, run reports, and research products and buying patterns.
4. Establish executed contracts in the Contract module, adding, and updating of items and suppliers within ERP and/or Contract module to support Category Manager(s).
5. Effectively utilize the Supplier Contract module to ensure accuracy of associated purchase orders, items, and invoicing. Work with Supply Chain Informatics team to deliver accurate supplier and item information to internal customers.
6. Verify pricing through local contracts and GPO (Group Buying Organizations) contracts and Procurement Contracts module. Ensure pricing is updated and data is accurate in ERP system.
7. Work in tandem with Category Manager(s) to maintain contract compliance.
8. Utilize market data, benchmarking tools and analytics to effectively assist stakeholders in supply chain decisions. Identify new opportunities for standardization and consolidation.
9. Assist stakeholders in development of bid specifications, solicitation, and analysis. Work with Category Manager(s) to assist with creation of RFls, RFPs and RFQs and determine qualified suppliers to engage.
10. Provide analysis and abstracting of quotations.
11. Analyze system-wide spend and usage data. Utilize data to present opportunities to Category Manager(s) and stakeholders.
12. Analyze market information and forecasts for anticipated materials requirement. Utilize data to evaluate and select suppliers.
13. Interface with suppliers to obtain product information and alternate products.
14. Maintain familiarity and understanding of Gundersen Health System medical and non-medical supplies, equipment, and services to assist business owners.
15. Manages project equipment budgets and schedules.
16. Ensures Gundersen Health System standards, policies and procedures are followed, and contracts are being utilized within assigned areas of responsibility.
Education and Learning:
REQUIRED
Bachelors Degree in Business, Healthcare or a related field, or equivalent years of experience and education
Work Experience:
REQUIRED
4-6 years of purchasing and/or buying experience.
DESIRED
At least 1 year of previous experience purchasing experience in healthcare.
License and Certifications:
DESIRED
Certified Materials Resource Professional (CMRP) or Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM)
