Duties & Responsibilities:
• Constructing, erecting, installing and repairing wooden structures and fittings.
• Examining drawings and specifications to determine job requirements.
• Selecting and measuring appropriate wood and cutting, shaping and drilling to specification using saws, planes, chisels and other power or hand tools.
• Aligning and fixing prepared wood pieces by screwing, nailing, gluing and dowelling to form frames, shop fronts, counter units, decking and furniture.
• Checking accuracy of work with square, rule and spirit level.
• Maintaining and repairing woodwork and fittings.
• Carrying out a wide range of carpentry related tasks to ensure work is completed within the priorities and maintaining to highest standards possible.
• Incorporating fixtures like door handles and locks, cabinet handles, stairway railing, and other fixtures into design and implementation.
• Participating in first fixing as well as second fixing work.
• Working independently to carry out remedial work to fix maintenance issues.
• Reporting any defects found immediately along with a clear method and timescale for repair.
• Ability to assess the quality of woodwork and materials.
• Complying with health and safety regulations.
• Maintaining records and produce reports.
• Supporting in the delivery of a safe, clean and healthy working environment.
• Communicating and interacting with other colleagues.
