Job Description
Title: General Technician - Shipping & Receiving
Reports to: Shipping & Receiving Coordinator
Summary: Responsible for the Safety, cleanliness and organization of the warehouse, baler room, truck docks, bander, associated grounds by supplying support to Press Operation, Baler Room, and overall plant support. Ensures top quality material, accurately labeled and carefully shipped is received by the customer.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND PERFORMANCE STANDARDS OVERVIEW:
Through the use of lift and clamp trucks, safely load and unload goods and products for storage and/or shipment
Reads work orders and/or follows oral instructions to ascertain materials or containers to be moved. Through the use of lift and clamp trucks safely load and unload trailers, preparing goods for storage and/or shipment. Safely and efficiently move rolls, pallets and other materials throughout the facility. Ensure correct loading of product or other material onto pallets before moving. Ensures all loads are correctly and properly strapped, braced or padded to prevent shifting or damage during transport either in house or on customers’ transports.
Provide support to Press Operation by correct set up of rolls. Maintain OHSE compliance at all times.
Correctly sets up roll stock for job changes ensuring material is in place in correct press location Ensures all packing material available warehouse for each job. Keeps supplies of pallets, trays, slip-sheets, & films in storage Moves WIP to hold area/Hot Room Ensures labels and samples are completed properly with each pallet. Inspecting all loads for appearances, heights, load tags for proper and accurate documentation and placement
Properly prepare finished goods following company standards prior to storage or shipment.
Prepare finished goods for shipment by applying corner boards, wooden tops and trays. Correctly wrapping the pallet according to customer specifications, apply labels to pallets, prepare Bills of Lading and store into Finished Goods or loading pallets onto trailer as required. Correctly enter required information into the Pecas System. Scan pallets into storage or scan for outbound shipments. Prioritize per shipment/release schedule, signing all paperwork with date, time and name as required. Understand quality requirements and packing specifications for all customers.
Ensure correct set-up and removal of product/material following instructions and procedures.
Remove waste bins by Lantech while maintaining clean vision standards according to company policies and procedures. Supply correct roll stock to press room Carefully store partial rolls. Store NCM in proper area following Quality Work Instructions.
Maintain Baler Room support through proven methods and procedures.
Ensure all bales are removed from baler, weighed and loaded onto truck. Correctly receive pallets and Gaylord corrugated. Loading full Gaylords and cores. Maintain cleanliness of Baler Room at all times. Double stack combo trailer and bale trailer. Note psi pressure of compactor and empty when Compactor is full Replace baler wire immediately when spool runs out.
Maintains and follows all company policies and procedures for EHS, personal protection, and hazard materials/waste handling according to established guidelines.
Follows all personal protection procedures by use of appropriate personal protective equipment at all times while in designated areas and specific tasks requiring the use of PPE. Follows established procedures and guidelines for the handling and disposal of all hazardous materials/waste. Maintains and wears proper uniform according to company policies. Use Company provided safety lifting equipment, i.e., forklifts, hoist, jacks, vacuum manipulators, etc. On a regular basis, examines work areas to keep it in a safe and neat condition, Properly stores and arranges work area to maintain cleanliness and safe environment following all safety rules and regulations for grounding, storage, spill clean-up, etc. Effectively demonstrates the ability to maintain work area in a safe and proper working order including but not limited to cleaning press area, mopping floors, emptying rag and trashcans.
Forklift Driver
Maintain and support press operation through safe and effective material handling. Safe and correct operation and maintenance of forklift vehicles to ensure proper material moving and forklift operation. Loading and unloading of pallets, waste and recording and weighing of recyclable material.
Maintain annual forklift certification and demonstrate correct procedures and operation of lift equipment. Use lift truck to move loads of raw materials, in-process stock, or finished goods throughout the facility. Check all loads for correct labels and codes, and neatness. Place loads in designated area of warehouse. Use bar-code scanner for Pecas for inventory. Remove waste and cores from press, weigh and put on trucks for recycling Make sure all material is in designated areas. Ensure proper installation of battery charging equipment and battery replacement according to company policies and procedures. Connect new battery using hoist equipment. Batteries must be charged outside the lift truck. Complete all necessary paperwork as required including a daily lift truck inspection form. Operate all equipment in a safe manner at all times to ensure no damage to Company property or customer product. Report any and all accidents, injuries, and near misses.
Actively participates as a member of Shipping & Receiving to meet production and team goals. Interacts with co-workers and all staff in a way that promotes respect, encourages cooperation and contributes to excellent performance.
As an integral member of a Shipping & Receiving Team, works effectively with other employees. Communicates accurate information to all team members in a professional, respectful, and courteous manner. Exhibits a willingness to assist or help in getting work completed, assisting others when required, any and all other tasks that may be required or requested by shift leads, department leads or management. Must be very dependable in attendance and punctuality.
Must be able to perform any and all work or additional tasks as required or requested by Department Leads, Shift Leads, or Management.
Requirements:
High School diploma (or GED), one to three years related production experience and/or training: or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have very good mechanical and physical ability. Lift truck operators must have forklift certification and maintain safety training for operation of all company equipment. Must have good mathematical skills and the ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
Physical Demands:
The ability to lift up to 50 lbs is required. This position may require prolonged periods of standing, stooping, bending and/or reaching, balancing, climbing, kneeling, crouching, reaching with hands and arms, hearing and speaking. Must be able to hold, touch, feel and manipulate with hands product and equipment in a safe manner. Manual dexterity is required. Use of close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Must be able to rotate shifts as required. Must be available to work in excess of 8 hours per day and/or 40 hours per week when necessary to meet customer product needs. Must be able to work in repetitive functions as well as other duties as required.
