Main Duties and Responsibilities The department offers exposure and training in Laparoscopic Colorectal, Laparoscopic Benign Upper GI Surgery, Vascular Surgery, Urology as well as General Surgery. The successful candidate will work in a team at Northampton General Hospital and is available from December 2024 until April 2025 with an opportunity to extend further for suitable candidates. This post is suited to FY2-CT2 level candidates, who would like further training in general surgery to advance their career and enhance their CV. Specifically, candidates will be supported to obtain core surgical training competencies and MRCS qualifications, in preparation for applying for higher surgical training. This is a service post, but clinical and surgical training will be provided to suit the candidates needs. The post holder may take up a whole time, maximum part time or job share contract. The successful candidate will participate in the General Surgery SHO full shift rota comprising of 12 SHO grades covering Urology, Vascular and General Surgery emergencies. Duties will include the full range of clinical activities, operating lists, outpatient clinics, ward rounds, surgical on call and supporting the emergency theatres. NGH is the centre providing elective arterial surgery, 24/7 emergency vascular surgery and emergency interventional vascular radiology procedures for the patients of Northamptonshire.
