RESTART Scheme Blue is a pilot that has been running for the last 6 months. It supports graduates who join the RESTART Scheme to find roles at a high level that match their qualifications and skills.
The Professional Mentor will provide 1:1 coaching and mentoring, working with Participants to find sustainable roles in their chosen field and offer guidance where needed and the path is unclear. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the white-collar job market and have good network links and will be able to use this to navigate participants through application processes and interviews.
Mentors will work participants intensely through 8 x 1:1 sessions and offer further in work support once they have moved into employment. Post each meeting, they will feedback to the job coach on the participants progress and ensure that these records are maintained centrally.
Key Accountabilities
- Use a range of dynamic coaching styles to ensure appropriate levels of engagement with the participants targeted for this programme.
- Support Participant to optimise their CV, Covering Letters, Interview techniques, LinkedIn branding, & USB
- Support employer research in the Participants chosen career area
- Understand different sectors and how skills are transferable in higher management positions
- Knowledge of different commercial management positions and their generic requirements
- Deliver personal performance targets and Key Performance Indicators for the role.
- Excellent communication skills to engage participants and ensure close working relationships with colleagues.
- Provide cover for other Professional Mentors and the Specialist Provision Manager as required to ensure continuity of service delivery.
- Facilitate workshops and presentations on career development topics as required.
- To perform any other duties required for the post and are commensurate with the level of responsibility
What I need to do the role?
- Educated to Degree level with IAG certification desirable
- Experience in professional mentoring or career counselling
- Strong understanding of the white-collar job market
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently
