Serco’s Environmental Services provide a complete waste, recycling, and street cleansing service on behalf of the residents and community of Derbyshire. With a professional, dedicated, and friendly team, our environmental staff ensure that our streets, homes, and businesses are kept clean, safe and tidy, whilst providing the very best levels of customer service to the community that we serve.
Right now, we have an opportunity for a like-minded Yardperson to join our team of essential workers and help us to make a positive difference to the environment we all live in.
This role will see you take responsibility for keeping the yard clean and tidy and making sure it’s a safe environment to work in.
Alongside your outdoor duties you will also be;
- Overseeing the tipping of recyclables from RCV’s, ensuring that the material is free of contamination.
- Loading outbound vehicles with recyclables.
- Completing various administration.
- Keeping the depot clean, tidy and presentable.
You will also be involved in the maintenance of the trucks such as washing and digging, and performing a regular bin count alongside any other general tasks that are required by the contract.

What you'll need to do the role
We are looking to hear from candidates who have previous experience in a similar role, however this is not essential as full training will be given.
A good understanding of microsoft packages such as emails, excel and word will be needed for this role to support you with your administration duties.
You will have strong communication and interpersonal skills as well as be self-motivated with the willingness to undertake further training when required and work well within a team.
