As a Fixed Term Cleaning Operative at Sodexo at Merville Barracks, Circular Road South, Colchester You'll deliver cleaning services to create a safe and healthy environment. You'll interact with our clients daily, and you'll be improving the quality of life in everyone you meet!

What you’ll do:

• Focus on the details and complete a list of scheduled cleaning tasks
• Ensure all areas of an office, including kitchens, toilets, communal areas, are glistening
• Replenishing stock and consumables such as toilet tissue and hand gels
• Be a champion of health and safety practices - spot a near miss? Report it to keep your colleagues safe!

What you bring:

As a Deployable General Administrator at Merville Barracks, Colchester You'll provide immediate clerical support to the Unit or Headquarters you are utilized in. You will provide support where required across the Contract for all Units, providing continuity of service and assistance to the smooth running of the office deployed into. What you’ll do (depending on location and post):

• Provide assistance to military personnel where required

• Produce high quality documentation as required by the Unit or Headquarters deployed into

• Providing assistance to military personnel in managing report writing schedules and Joint Personnel Administration workflow if required

• Producing / Maintaining / Updating Repeat Orders, Convening Orders, Delegation of Powers and Board of Enquiries.

• Producing and Maintaining Unit personnel records and reports from Corporal to Officer.

• Compiling and organising / preparing mailshots / invitations / posters / advertising for Unit/HQ.

• Producing sensitive written work on behalf of CO.

• Maintaining current and accurate records of Married Quarter addresses

• Assistance with unit-led functions, coffee mornings, etc.

• Acting as the initial contact for military personnel, families and outside organisation

• Preparing and distributing sensitive written work on behalf of Authority Line Manager

• Answer all telephone calls promptly and in a polite and professional manner.

• Any other ad hoc duties commensurate with the post deployed into.

What you bring: 

• Security Check (SC) clearance required (this is provided by Sodexo)

• Knowledge and aptitude for computers.

• 2 years + Administration experience required

• Experience of MS Word, Excel, TEAMS and Outlook.

• Good Telephone Manner.

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

• Ability to prioritise work

The Post



The post will be for one year in the first instance.



The appointee will primarily work as part of a dynamic and flexible team comprising of a growing team of Acute Physicians in looking after patients in General Medicine whilst providing additional support for the development of services within General Medicine and also providing senior cover in addition to participating in the Registrar on-call rota.



Responsibilities will include demonstrating good leadership and providing supervision for junior staff. There will be involvement in regular teaching programme as well as participating in weekly meetings and monthly audit meetings

The post has generally been regarded as a tremendously helpful ‘stepping stone’ to a training position either within Acute Medicine or another medical speciality as there are plenty of cogent learning and developmental opportunities including the chance to write up and publish case reports, reviews and quality improvement projects. Our past registrars have invariably gone on to become highly confident and successful senior doctors.



POST SPECIFIC



The post-holder will take part in at least one general medicine out-patient session per week (this may be ambulatory clinic based in EAU) including new patient referrals from GPs and ward follow-ups. This forms an integral part of the general medicine training along with the emergency (acute) take which is currently a full shift rota

However this post offers an exciting opportunity to expand and consolidate the post-holder’s current medical knowledge. The successful applicant will receive training in Acute Medicine and General Medicine and depending on the individual’s interest an arrangement can be made for participation in sub-specialty clinics. The post-holder will have a valuable opportunity to participate in further development of services, which forms an important part of higher medical training. The Estates and Facilities department are looking to recruit a number of highly motivated, enthusiastic and hardworking individuals to join the bank Facilities team in delivering excellent environments for Healthcare in the our units.



Working either on your own or as part of a team you will maintain high standards of cleaning. You will need to be able to provide a customer focused service and be of a friendly and helpful nature. Hours of work vary in each unit but are typically part time working in either the morning, afternoon or evening and weekends.



Our bank services offer you the opportunity to work the hours and days that fit around you and your other commitments whilst still providing a friendly and committed team to work within. All bank workers are paid on a weekly basis.
