An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Specialty Doctor to join an innovative team dedicated to the delivery of high quality care within Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
This post attracts 10 PAs. Part time/job share applicants will also be considered. This is proposed to be a 12 months fixed term which potentially will be a permanent post.
You will be a team player able to embrace change and modernisation. You will be part of a team which includes 11 Consultant General Surgeons plus visiting Consultants from Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust, 2 other Speciality Doctors, a full junior medical team and Specialist Nurses.
We are active in the teaching of Medical Students as part of the Nottingham Medical School rotation and of junior Doctors from the East Midlands North.
Applicants must have Full GMC Registration with a Licence to Practise and have had experience in General Surgery. Those with CESR or equivalent would be welcomed, support for those wishes to gain these qualifications would be supported.
Participation in some out of hours work will be expected and this will be remunerated as per terms and conditions set out in the Specialty Doctor contract.
• The over-riding purpose is to support the provision of the highest quality patient care through personal actions and continuous improvement.
• Provision of a service to Sherwood Forest Hospitals, with responsibility for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of illness, and the proper functioning of the department.
• The post holder is expected to contribute towards the teaching and training of medical students.
• Cover for colleagues' annual leave and other authorised absences.
• Responsibilities for carrying out teaching duties as required and contributing to undergraduate, postgraduate and continuing medical education activity.
• Participating in medical audit, the Trust’s Clinical Governance processes and in CPD – CPD is provided in job plans and attendance at audit and other governance meetings is mandatory.
• Any other duties which may be required from time to time.

• Staff who have access to or transfer data are responsible for that data and must respect confidentiality and comply with the requirement of the Data Protection Act 1998, in line with the Trust’s policies.
• The post holder is responsible for data quality and complying with the policies, procedures and accountability arrangements throughout the Trust for maintaining accuracy and probity in the recording of the Trust’s activities.
• The post holder is expected to comply with Trust policies and procedures.
• Staff is required to comply with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 in line with Trust Policy.
- Involvement in the middle grade on call surgical rota 1:10
- Elective HPB/UGI clinics
- Active involvement in the development of surgical SDEC and the re-development of the hot biliary pathway
- Independent operating to include hernias, cholecystectomies and potentially anti-reflux surgery
- Ongoing professional development including clinical governance
- Support training of junior Doctors and trainee ANPs/ACPs
