Job Responsibilities

• Support Senior Librarian of Reference & User Services in managing daily customer operations, maintenance of library facilities/spaces and services to users (staff and public) in line with standards, policy and procedure.
• Oversee and manage the library’s circulation and information/enquiry services, including monitoring service delivery (across different channels) by staff, roster planning, manning of circulation counter, processing of loan and membership transactions, handling advisory/information enquiries, and troubleshooting issues related to common library equipment/services.
• Manage and maintain user data in the Library Management System. Manage and keep up to date the relevant SOPs and documentation for library services.
• Identify gaps, propose/experiment with possible solutions & methods to improve or provide new reference & research services (on-site & remote) to users.
• Responsible to collect, analyse and produce regular written and statistical reports on the library collection, facilities & services for management. Analyse satisfaction/usage trends to ensure the library collection, resources and policies are developed to meet users’ needs.
• Participate in collection development through regular selection of materials for acquisition. Provide information service to users via daily selection and/or co-ordination of news alert services.
• Promote library collection and services through curated book displays, subject guides, tours and events. Develop training kit/handbook/materials and conduct staff and public user education/ induction.
• Be the central contact point for coordinating and managing the usage of library public space e.g. exhibition galleries, meeting rooms.
• Assist in collection management and maintenance through shelf reading, collection stocktake, conservation and provision of timely access to materials.
• Any other duties as required.

Requirements:

• At least three years of relevant library work experience, particularly in academic or special library environments.
• Possess strong customer service and communication skills.Meticulous, organised, and independent self-starter who possess critical thinking skills.
• Team player willing to co-operate and share. Possess good interpersonal, administrative and supervisory skills.
• Willing to learn, able to multi-task and complete tasks with tight deadlines independently; possess good time management.
• Good writing skills in English with a good knowledge of any other Southeast Asian languages would be an advantage.
• Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Microsoft Excel and Powerpoint.
• Familiarity with graphic design software and tools.
• A basic degree. Those with qualifications in degree in social sciences – History, Southeast Asian/Asian Studies, Information Studies, Library Science related disciplines, or equivalent qualifications would be advantageous.
• Familiarity with government procurement and/or GeBIZ would be an advantage.
• Familiarity with library software (SirsiDynix Symphony) would be an advantage.

As general manager, you will oversee your local office, and be responsible for the overall performance of that team.

You will thus have some involvement in all aspects of the business. You will work with clients; manage your team and address internal issues; liaise with Omnicom stakeholders; and play a role in new business too.

You will line manage the most senior members of the account management team. This means conducting regular appraisals of these individuals, and frequent check ins – both 1-on-1s and group management meetings. You will guide these individuals in the management of more junior members of the account management team. While you will not line manage these people yourself or work as closely with them, you should seek to develop a relationship with everyone in your team, and ensure they are able to approach you where necessary.

You will support your team to address performance matters when they arise, delivering difficult messages in a sensitive but clear way, and liaising with HR when necessary.

Generally you will not line manage people in your office, who sit in other functional teams (eg platforms, talent or new business). Nevertheless, you should have a healthy working relationship with these individuals, and have a clear picture of their work and how they can maximize their impact at the local level.

You will set up account teams for success. Working closely with the senior management team, you will monitor and adjust capacity, workload and distribution.

You will be responsible for hiring and promotion decisions within the account management team and work closely with Mother Tongue’s Head of Training for effective onboarding. You will also identify training requirements across the senior team in general, and address these needs.

You will serve as the figurehead of the agency locally. As such, you should attend industry events and work to improve the profile of the business in your area among both prospective clients and employees. In new business, you will be supported by the business development team who will work to the same aim and have more of a focus on converting opportunities.

With your team, you are responsible for ensuring Mother Tongue’s global culture is adopted and embraced locally – while allowing for some minor differences according to local customs. Likewise, you should ensure that our standard processes and ways of working are followed consistently.

You will coordinate with other Omnicom entities, particularly within the eg+ Group. You should develop relationships with key stakeholders at our sister agencies, and ensure they understand and think positively of Mother Tongue’s offering and ways of working.

You will collaborate with the central management team in London, and act as a bridge between the central group and your local office. This will involve conveying information and implementing decisions taken centrally and communicating the needs and preferences of your office to central management. At the same time, you will share your thoughts and ideas around the global business and consider the broader organization beyond your office. As part of this, you should develop positive relationships with your counterparts in other offices.

You should keep abreast of industry developments and identify both threats to and opportunities for Mother Tongue – whether in your market or internationally. Likewise, you should have an overview of what is happening within your team and the performance of your office, identify trends whether positive or negative, and ways of either amplifying or correcting these.

With regards to clients, you should only be acting as the day-to-day lead on accounts by exception. However, it is important you have a relationship with senior stakeholders on your biggest local relationships, and your highest priority accounts. Your role here is to ensure that our key clients know they are a priority for us, that they have a senior sponsor they can come to in the case of any challenges, and for you to have a clear picture of the relationship – and potential opportunities for growth.

We are now looking for a General Manager, Wärtsilä Energy Marketing & Communications, Middle East and Asia. This opportunity is a 3-month fixed term assignment, and it’s location is Singapore.

Responsibilities

• In this role you will lead the Wärtsilä Energy’s Middle East and Asia (MEA) marketing and communications activities and act as leader for the area marketing & communications team.

• The team’s mission is to build awareness for Wärtsilä in MEA focus markets, organise communications to support active market development, increase preference of Wärtsilä’s solutions and services among target customers through locally relevant value propositions and effective use of marketing channels as well as generating leads. The team also supports MEA experts in building thought leadership.

• As team lead, you are responsible for defining the marketing & communications strategy for MEA, including objectives, target groups, key messages, marcom activities, timeline and forecast, covering the full scope of Wärtsilä Energy’s offering.

• You take the lead in defining the MEA marketing & communications plan on Area level and for each focus market. You ensure on-time and on-budget execution of that plan, applying an agile approach that takes into account changing conditions and business priorities.

• As line manager, you act as the MEA marketing & communications team’s first point of contact and coach, aiming at high performance and work wellbeing.

• You make sure the needed analytics and reporting are set up to enable tracking progress and results, aiming to optimise actions based on data and maximising the return on marketing investment. You ensure targets and metrics are aligned with the overall Wärtsilä Energy Marketing & Communications goals as well as the MEA Area business objectives and that each team member knows how they contribute to achieving these targets.

• You guide the team and contribute hands-on to the marketing & communications work, leveraging your areas of expertise, including:

o Creating high quality targeted content which clearly communicates the value Wärtsilä brings to the target group. Localising global materials to fit the focus markets' context.

o Planning and executing integrated marketing and communications campaigns leveraging tactics like digital marketing, media relations, events and conferences.

o Supporting MEA leaders and experts in becoming recognised thought leaders in their area of expertise.

o Communicating and sharing success stories and new developments, internally and externally.

• You are a team player who ensures alignment with the other Energy marketing & communications teams, sharing and adopting best practices and leveraging global materials, channels and campaigns for effectiveness.

• You actively contribute to joint cross-Energy marketing initiatives as part of the Energy Marketing & Communications Management Team.

• You work closely with MEA Growth & Development and Sales (New Build and Services) teams to get input on market situation, stakeholders to target, customer needs, competitive landscape and role of flexibility in focus countries and participate in developing market-specific value proposition and related messaging.

• You set up and foster a network of creative and communications agencies to support marketing & communications efforts in focus countries.

Requirements:

• A Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications or other relevant field of study.

• 5+ years working experience in international B2B marketing and communications within the Energy sector, more specifically the engine power plant solutions and services industry.

• A successful track record of leading a marketing & communications team within a global corporation in the Energy sector.

• A proven understanding of the following energy sector topics:

o The energy transition and energy markets in Middle East and Asia.

o Designing and building flexible power systems to enable renewable energy ramp up.

o Engine power plant technology.

• An ability to quickly understand complex topics and create effective messaging for various external stakeholders and customers.

• A broad and proven marketing and communications skill set covering: external communications and media relations, creating thought leadership content, planning and executing multichannel marketing campaigns, digital marketing and social media, organizing events.

• A demonstrated ability for conceptual thinking.

• Strong planning, project management and prioritisation skills.

• Demonstrated skills of successfully leading cross-regional projects and campaigns.

• Experience in collaborating in a cross-cultural team in a matrix organisation.
