MRI is continually striving to innovate, develop and improve the offering to our patients. In this aim we are constantly developing our medical models to expand consultant support and ensure consultant led care is available 7 days a week. Offered as 10PA posts, this includes weekend daytime ward sessions 1:8 or participation in the Acute weekend and evening rota which is also 1:8 frequency.

To provide support to trained nursing staff in order to deliver a more timely and efficient service as part of the pathway for patients in critical care. The post holder will undertake duties that will allow more effective use of nursing time and will also contribute to the efficient running of the service .

You will take responsibility for ensuring that all medical equipment is clean and well maintained and liaise with the domestic supervisors and staff to ensure cleaning is of a high standard , waiting areas are well maintained for patient and visitor use. You will take responsibility for ensuring the high dependency unit has adequate equipment and stock. You will undertake reporting any estates work and request for patient transport portering services.

In addition, you will be responsible for assisting the team in continuous quality improvement work by undertaking audits on the Department. The role also entails keeping ward information boards up to date, and friends & family feedback is maintained.

The post holder will also oversee the meal process to ensure all patients receive the highest standards of meals. This will also include completing a hot drinks round in both the morning and afternoon to ensure patients are offered hot drinks between meals.

We are seeking to appoint four Senior Clinical Fellow doctors at IMT3 level in General Internal Medicine, Medical Specialties Directorate. This post is suitable for doctors who have completed core medical training or are currently working as an IMT3 or Middle Grade. This post is a great opportunity to take that next step as a senior doctor, taking part on the Medical Registrar or IMT3 rota. The post is for 12 months but can be adjusted to suit personal circumstances. An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Emergency Care Village at Wythenshawe Hospital for a Salaried General Practitioner to join the Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC) team.

The UTC is co-located within the Wythenshawe adult Emergency Department. The unit provides same day assessment and treatment for patients who present with a minor illness and / or injury. The team comprises of (Advanced) Nurse Practitioners, Emergency Nurse Practitioners with medical cover from GPs. The unit at NMGH has seven substantive consultants and one NHS fixed term consultant post. The unit has become part of the MFT family and aims to contribute to the vision of a wide General Surgical Team for MFT. The unit provides a full range of general surgical, complex abdominal wall hernias and complex benign UGI procedures. The unit aims at expanding on a benign biliary service for HOT Gall bladders as well as providing diagnostic and therapeutic colorectal service for North Manchester catchment area including non-high risk resections for colorectal disease. The post holder will be expected to deliver benign colorectal service including colonic resections with potential expansion of the scope of work to include cancer resection in line with Healthier together and service disaggregation agreements. There is a fully functional 24/7 on call general surgical service at North and the successful candidate will be expected to participate in a 1:8 on call rota onsite.

The unit at North is also supported by 7-day interventional radiology service. There is a weekly GI MDT meeting attended by Radiology, Gastro and surgical team members. The unit has also full access to pathology service and work is in progress to fully integrate with the MFT interdependent specialties putting into consideration the local resources and local patients’ requirements.

The post carries 10 PA’s plus extra PAs based on mutual agreement and service needs.

Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust is a major teaching Trust with Ten hospitals on a number of sites. The hospitals involved are North Manchester General Hospital, Manchester Royal Infirmary, Manchester Royal Eye Hospital, Saint Mary’s Hospital, Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital and University Dental Hospital of Manchester (collectively known as the Oxford Road campus), Wythenshawe Hospital, Withington Community Hospital, Trafford General Hospital and Altrincham Hospital.

The successful applicant will provide a clinical service at Specialty Registrar level, working closely with the clinical team under the supervision of the Consultants. • Daily ward rounds to provide care for the surgical patients
• Providing assistance to the consultants during surgery
• Attendance at General surgery / colorectal F/U UGI outpatient clinics
• Participation in the weekly benign MDT
• Supervision of junior trainees
• Participating in departmental audits
• Participation in the middle grade on call rota (1:11)

• With a minimum of 2:1 in any degree subject, you’ll preferably have previous work experience within the health or voluntary sector & the ability to show political awareness & an understanding of the NHS.
• With strong analytical skills & the ability to consider wider organisational contexts & complex data/information, you’ll deliver & monitor against key performance indicators within the Trust.
• Tenacious, with a high level of self-belief, drive and enthusiasm to achieve goals, you’ll identify & resolve operational issues that arise within the service & implement new or revised policies.
• With an innovative approach & flexible attitude to work, you’ll support service improvement & innovation programmes.
• Putting the patient at the heart of everything you do, you’ll respond to complaints appropriately within agreed timescales, on occasions meeting with the complaints manager & sometimes patients.
• As an effective communicator with the ability to present written & verbal information to a high standard, you’ll work collaboratively with clinicians & clinical teams to help develop protocols & pathways to improve service delivery.
• You’ll have both a willingness & potential to develop the necessary knowledge, skills & behaviours to become a first class, resilient & inspirational General Manager & Leader.
