Maintenance Engineer
Goole – Up to £40k - Mon to Fri (2pm finish on Fridays)

Our client in Goole are keen to recruit an electrically and mechanically skilled maintenance engineer to strengthen a small maintenance team who maintain and repair all machinery and equipment on site minimise production down time and meet customer demand.

The duties of the Maintenance Engineer include:
Controlling the In-House Preventative Maintenance System, working alongside another maintenance engineer and apprentices as well as alone, ensuring all PPM’S and are up to date

SPS Technician, receives contaminated critical and semi-critical reusable medical equipment (RME) in the decontamination area, and may receive noncritical equipment as well. Disassembles the RME and determines the correct cleaning method, such as, but not limited to, ultrasonic cleaners, mechanical washers/disinfectors, Trophon EPR, and chemical cleaning/decontamination agents, as determined by manufacturer instructions. Inspects, assembles and determines the correct method and packaging for sterilization, such as, but not limited to steam, Trophon EPR, and high level disinfecting. Performs and documents daily operational checks and records for all processes and equipment.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Determines correct method for cleaning and disinfection, then removes soil, blood, tissue fragments, body fluids, and other contaminants by wiping, soaking, rinsing, scrubbing, and use of ultrasonic equipment and washer/disinfectors.
• differentiates if the items will be sterilized or will be processed using High Level Disinfection (HLD) methods based on the Spaulding Classifications of the item being reprocessed. Items determined to require HLD are reprocessed using an Automatic Endoscope Reprocessor (AER) or manual methods and approved quality controls for the process. All items reprocessed using HLD must also be properly rinsed to remove the disinfecting agent.
• Monitors performance of sterilizers for quality control by conducting bacteriological tests.
• The incumbent quarantines any implantable items during the testing period and complies with the VA Policy for Early Release of Implantable Devices by assuring that the proper, paperwork is completed and signed by the Chief of Staff or the designee before releasing those implants if the 3-hour biological monitoring process is not completed before the implants are needed.
• Unloads sterilized trays, sets and packs from sterilizers, during which time all items are inspected for visual changes to external chemical indicators which shows that the item or package has been exposed to the physical conditions of a sterilizing cycle.
• Places a stamped date and control number on each sterilized item indicating the expiration date. Incumbent stocks sterile items on shelves or delivery carts on a first-in, first-out basis for rotation.
• Provides training and orientation to medical personnel on sterile supply techniques and procedures.

The Role of a Maintenance Operative

A maintenance operative carries the responsibility for the domestic repairs & maintenance upkeep of the premises, minor projects within the site complex and all compliancy needed for the running of the site.

- The Maintenance Operative to ensure that all parts of the environment are safe, welcoming, clean, hygienic, in good repair and sensitive to the needs of the students being looked after

- To provide high professional standards of record keeping, and reports related to the site.

- To participate in and undertake regular audits of the quality systems as necessary.

- To undertake regular inspections and address works from contractors which fall below required standard.

- To ensure compliance with all current and prevailing national regulations and inspection standards, relevant to core functions, for this type of establishment.

- To ensure compliance with all current and prevailing national regulations for Environmental Health and the standards of the regulatory body for inspections

- To take responsibility, and manage Maintenance of your work load, to provide effective and pro-active works

- To liaise closely with the Regional Facilities Manager on larger projects and seek the Facilities Manager’s regular assistance with technical matters on repair, maintenance or improvement projects.

- To identify projects around the facility that will improve the image, functionality, operational or educational efficiency use of the facility for staff, students or visitors.

- To ensure that projects are completed within programme, and that areas occupied by contractors / suppliers are left in good condition.

Maintenance Engineer (Permanent Nights) - Requirements

• Educated to a minimum Level 3 in Electrical Engineering
• Strong practical knowledge of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering / Maintenance, with excellent problem solving and fault-finding skills
• Experience working as a Maintenance Engineer within an Industrial Manufacturing environment
• Previous experience and knowledge of Planned Preventative & Total Productive Maintenance to improve machine condition, product quality and reduce downtime
• Good oral and written communication skills
• Able to read engineering drawings

Maintenance Engineer (Permanent Nights) - Responsibilities

• Ensure all machines are maintained safely & efficiently in accordance with relevant legislation and that the Company's legal responsibilities in regard of equipment installation & maintenance are fully complied with
• Participates in operational projects across the site
• Carry out maintenance checks of equipment & day to day repairs, adjustments & improvements
• Maintain site services and facilities
• Be responsible for carrying out breakdown resolution, planned preventative maintenance activities, working with the Lean ethos to ensure highest standards on machine condition
• Liaise with the production team to ensure business requirements are satisfied by ensuring activities are carried out promptly & correctly to support plant optimisation
• As required undertake appropriate Install, Decommissioning, Recommissioning and testing etc of Capital Equipment
• Ensure Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental standards are adhered to including the requirements of ISO 9001, 14001 & 45001
