Your new role

Your responsibilities will include both the installation and maintenance of building fabric in both residential and commercial properties, including;

• Performing general joinery work, including fixing issues with existing building fabric.
• Install new building fabric as required.
• Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of building fabric.
• Respond to emergency issues promptly and efficiently.
• Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with relevant health and safety regulations.

What you'll need to succeed

Our client is looking for joiners whose background is maintenance joinery and are comfortable in a maintenance environment, working with members of the public. Successful candidates will preferably have experience of maintaining building fabric in residential as well as commercial properties.

Main requirements:

• Proven experience as a maintenance joiner
• Relevant joinery qualifications (e.g. NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Joinery)
• Valid driving licence
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Excellent communications and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

- 39.5 hours per week. Working 5 over 7 days (week 1: 06:00

- 18:30 and week 3: 13:30

Starting your Journey:

We are looking for an experienced Mobile Mechanical Engineer to maintain and repair installations such as ventilation systems - (AHU, Intake/extract), heating and cooling systems (thermal wheels, FCUs, etc.), and water system assets, such as booster sets, calorifiers, water heaters.

You should be capable of delivering the highest level of service for the client, answering queries, reporting any defects, and keeping them informed of site activities at the time of the service visit. You will also be required to complete all work-related documentation accurately and on time, keeping a log of inspection reports and remedial work.

You must hold a valid full driving licence and be IT literate. You should have the capability to perform manual tasks, including manual handling, working at heights and in confined spaces as well as a willingness to participate in the On-Call Rota. You must have good verbal and written communication and the ability to use a mobile device.

The ideal candidate would have experience within a Maintenance/Facilities Management environment. You must have relevant qualifications required e.g. C&G Level 3 or Level 5 / NVQ or HNC equivalent. The post holder is responsible for providing ICT support to pupils in connection with the 1:1 iPad Empowered Learning project and an ICT service to school staff including basic fault finding and a first point of contact for staff who have problems with their devices / software.

Tynecastle High School is a six-year comprehensive secondary school which has served west-central Edinburgh with distinction for over 100 years. We are currently recruiting a Science Technician to support our Science Teachers in the preparation of science experiments / projects across our year groups, in addition to ordering materials and maintaining the department budget.
