An exciting position has arisen within the Environment Division Facilities Team for a full time Facilities Officer at St Albans and Hemel Hempstead.

The Facilities Officer is a member of the Facilities Team who monitors the soft facilities across the Trust as directed by the Facilities Operations Manager.

This role will also require cover for the Facilities Operations Manager when he is not available.

The role is for 37.5 hours a week and occasional weekend work would be required.

This role will also involve with assisting with any filming that takes place at HHGH on a regular basis with the aim to maintain minimal disruption to the rest of the site while aiming to generate valuable revenue to the trust.

Ensuring that the Trust’s facilities Contract and in-house team comply with the quality and standards as detailed within the Specification, policies and Standard Operating procedures and meet the specified service outcomes.

- You’ll perform a full range of inspections, diagnostic, maintenance, and repair procedures on a range of vehicles, trailers, and mechanical equipment.

A bit about you

- Qualified mechanic: you’re fully qualified to an advanced level (IMI Level 3 in Light or Heavy vehicle or equivalent). You’ve got your own toolkit for standard repairs.
- Varied vehicle experience: Proven Vehicle Technician experience working on a wide range of vehicles, for example LCV / HGV.
- Valid UK driving licence: You hold a full manual UK driving licence.
- High working standards: you take pride in your work and do what is necessary to make sure the job is done effectively.
- Flexible to service demands: you’re able to work on a flexible shift rota. You’re always willing to support your team where necessary.

An exciting opportunity is available to work in the Facilities Department at West Herts NHS Trust. The role is primarily based at Hemel Hospital, but involves regular travel to St Albans Hospital and Jacketts Field.

The Facilities Department are responsible for the soft services at the Trust. These services include Cleaning, Catering, Portering, Waste and Pest Control.

The role of the Facilities Officer- to ensure the FM service supports clinical colleagues and reviewing how it integrates with Nursing in its provision of care and specifically infection prevention and control within the Trust.

Key skills here include exceptional and sensitive negotiating and communicating skills, ability to operate in a complex and changing environment across different sites and the ability to manage and lead In house staff and work with external contractors and suppliers. Knowledge of NHS Cleaning Standards, Catering would be an advantage, as this role also include carrying out audits of contractor services.
