Serco are recruiting for a Shift SatCom Technician to support the Operations Team at our TCS Contract in Bordon, Hampshire.
As a Shift SatCom Technician, you will provide configuration and real time operation of a variety of satellite ground and communications system. You will also carry out performance of routine maintenance, system checks and tests, and fault troubleshooting / rectification.
In the role, you will be working as part of a shift team on a rotating shift pattern designed to provide 24/7/365, flawless, uninterrupted satellite support.
The Technician provides Subject Matter Expertise and leadership as required.
Main Accountabilities:
- Comply with the Serco Management Systems, UK, Europe and TCS policies / procedures
- Operate the ARTS, RBC and COMM systems as directed by the Shift Supervisor or representative.
- Carry out or assist with planned maintenance activities and system troubleshooting as required.
- Provide technical expertise in fault finding during corrective maintenance activities.
- Will act as Senior person in area when required and check and report all events to the duty Supervisor.
- If requested by the COO deputize for the Duty Supervisor if absent, for day to day running of shift, including hand overs.
- Carry out planned maintenance in accordance with information from the site’s PMI database.
- Document all maintenance activity in accordance with site procedures in electronic and paper form.
- Carry out Risk assessment and Planned General Inspections as required
- Achieve and maintain the required certification levels.
- Ensure all relevant operational and quality health & safety procedures are adhered to.
- Promote and uphold company values, acting as a role model for the company and site.
- Promote an innovative and professional culture, working with Department Management and peers enabling a high-performance culture across the department ensuring Serco Governing Principles are fundamental to the operation
- WAH conversant with requirements and able to instruct the safety person when required
What you’ll need to do the role:
- GCSE Grade C Math’s and English.
- Electronic Engineering BTEC Level 3. (Minimum).
- Demonstrate Experience in Electrical, Electronics, RF & IT Comms & Mechanical environment.
- CompTIA Network+ and subsequently Security + as required. (Or willing to work towards)
- Good knowledge of the Microsoft MS packages.
- Ability to achieve SC Clearance.
- Full Driving Licence and a willingness to drive company vehicles.
- Willing to become Crypto Authorised if required
- Willing to become a rescue climber
