Drives and operates firefighting vehicles of significant complexity to respond to the presence or potential releases of hazardous materials (HAZMAT), for the purpose of stopping or controlling the release, and to conduct performance of noninvasive emergency medical procedures.

Duties
1. This position will support the Federal Government's response efforts to COVID-19.
2. Performs hazard and risk assessment and conducts a complete incident analysis. Performs Basic Life Support. Initiates established medical protocols in providing basic life support. Performs noninvasive emergency procedures: conducts initial and on-going patient assessment and physical examination; maintains airway, breathing, and circulation; determines priority of care; monitors patient's baseline vital signs: performs cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and automatic external defibrillation (AED).
3. Drives and operates firefighting vehicles, such as pumpers, aerial ladder trucks, and Airport Rescue Fire Fighting (ARFF) vehicles.
4. Performs crash-rescue and firefighting duties involving air traffic or support operations where hazardous conditions are such that the expectancy for fire is high and potential for becoming destructive is great. Performs structural firefighting duties for a variety of facilities, which may include large multistoried buildings, industrial areas, and/or base storage facilities.
5. Maintains firefighting equipment and fire station facilities. Complies with health, safety, and environmental rules and procedures and performs work in a manner that enhances the safety of the work environment.

Summary of Duties: 

Performs work in at least two of the following trades in the maintenance and repair of grounds, exterior structures, buildings, and related fixtures and utilities:

Plumbing: Installs, modifies, and repairs new and existing utility, supply, and disposal systems and equipment such as sewage, water, oil, and gas distribution systems, and water closets, tubs, fire sprinkler systems, and showers. Works from building plans, blueprints and sketches.

Carpentry: Uses skilled techniques to construct, install, repair, and modify wood and wood substitute structures and items requiring close tolerance fit and structural soundness. Assembles items using a variety of joining techniques and are skilled in the operation of general and precision carpentry and wood working equipment and are able to produce finished products with precise fits, accurate dimensions and acceptable appearance.

Painting: Performs special coating methods such as marbling and graining using coating materials prepared in special as well as common ways and by applying coating techniques that ensure surfaces have a smooth-textured and decorative appearance and meet thickness and level requirements.

Observes required safety, sanitation, and hazardous waste disposal rules and regulations. Operates vehicle to transport tools and materials to work site.

Provides World Class Customer Service with an emphasis on courtesy. Assists customers and communicates positively in a friendly manner. Acknowledges customers, smiles and makes eye contact. Asks questions to determine, verify and solve problems.  Checks for satisfaction on the quality of goods and services. Takes action to solve problems quickly. Designated Safety, Fire Warden and Hazardous Material Representative. Assists with implementation of applicable programs in accordance with the Base Safety Program and other regulations.     Conducts safety meetings at least quarterly. Advise employees of available safety regulations, instructions, materials and equipment. Ensures applicable training is provided to employees. Complies with OSHA standards and takes action to correct unsafe or unhealthy working conditions. Assists with maintaining activity property records.
