• Maintains laboratory equipment and supplies used, proper records of research data, and assists the supervisor in performing data analysis.
• Calibrates and maintains laboratory instrumentations at timely intervals so as to minimize breakdown and delay of procedures.

• Serves as Veterinary Medical Unit (VMU) Supervisor, overseeing the operations of all Veterans Affairs (VA) Boston animal facilities (Jamaica Plain and West Roxbury).
• Completely responsible for the management of the Veterinary Medical Unit (VMU), reporting to the Deputy Associate Chief of Staff (D-ACOS).
• There are approximately fifty (50) active protocols, and thirty (30) Principal Investigators utilize the Veterinary Medical Unit, using different species of animals for biomedical research studies in many scientific fields.
• Controls the animal population level by setting limitations, approving new animal purchases, and working with investigators to ensure population levels are consistent with the facility's ability to provide proper care.
• Ensures the proper transfer and transport of animals per regulations and guidelines.
• Maintains the barriers necessary for the prevention of cross contamination and the restrictions, separations, and precautions necessary to maintain a virus antibody-free facility.
• May order disposal, quarantine, or other measures as necessary, and may restrict the purchase of animals from sources found to be unreliable regarding the condition of animals.
• Performs other duties assigned.

Your new role
You will be joining a highly skilled Engineering Team working across a large site with mainly automated equipment, working to the scheduled PPM, completing work orders as assigned and reacting to any breakdowns reducing lost time. You will utilise the business CMMS (SAP) recording all works completed and materials used. About the role

SIGN-ON BONUS: $2,500 Sign (1/2 after 30 days, 1/2 after 90 days)

As a Maintenance Mechanic, you will be responsible for the planned, unplanned, and preventative maintenance tasks required to ensure safe and efficient operational effectiveness of equipment and systems which enable Covanta’s industrial disposal process.

Position Responsibilities:

• Effectively complete preventive maintenance tasks per maintenance schedule to prevent breakdowns of equipment and operational downtime

• Inspect and adjust the mechanical alignment of pumps, replace and/or rebuild pumps, fan bearings, motors, and conveyors; Rebuild or change gearboxes

• Install and modify pipelines, and assist in the modification and addition of plant projects

• Read blueprints and P&IDs, and perform welding in SMAW,GTAW, and GMAW

• Utilize root-cause analysis skills to investigate breakdown and line stoppages collaborating with various teams and stakeholders

• Prioritize work to ensure timely maintenance, repair and installation of equipment, tools, and utility systems to minimize production downtime and complete all required paperwork and documentation in the company’s computerized maintenance documentation program

• Utilize Covanta’s defined maintenance documentation program to open and close out work orders, check out spare parts, and other activities as required in the plant.

• Repair and/or maintain the operating condition of industrial production or processing machinery or equipment including inspection, assembly, disassembly, and replacement as necessary

• Observe and evaluate the operation of machinery or equipment to diagnose malfunctions utilizing mechanical devices

• Inspect operating machines and equipment for conformance with operational and safety performance standards.

Preferred Skills (but not required):

• Mechanical fabrication

• Perform welding in SMAW, GTAW, and GMAW

• Hydraulics and/or hydraulics troubleshooting

• Machinist and/or lathe skills

Position Requirements & Qualifications:

• A minimum of 1+ years of experience in a heavy industrial/manufacturing environment

Industrial Maintenance - Forklift Repair

Location: 630 John Hancock Rd, Taunton MA

The backbone of any organization is a team that is dedicated to keeping things in order. Our valued maintenance teams keep things running, our business in motion, and our customers successful. You will primarily be focused on forklift equipment preventive and corrective maintenance. We have high standards for safety, stability, and training to ensure our people are safe and that our business is always running at top performance. We offer a clean organized parts room and we provide the heavier specialty tools; you just bring the basics. Be part of a skilled team that offers respect, expertise, and professional development!

Schedule: Monday - Friday 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM

Pay: Starting at $30.22 based on experience.

• Earn up to $3.50 per hour performance incentive.

• Annual $500 tool allowance and $150 boot allowance

Does this look like you?

• You must be 18 years of age or older 

• High school diploma or GED certificate

• Powered Industrial Vehicle certification required

• Three years previous machine repair experience OR an equivalent combination of education and training. Previous experience in forklift repair

• You'll be asked to do work in high places, freezing cold spaces, inside/outside, and anywhere within the building where you are needed

• Successful passing of drug screen and background check

• Able to lift/move up to 100 lbs during your shift

• Must provide own tools
