We are seeking an experienced science professional who will provide a comprehensive efficient and effective range of technical support to meet the needs of the department. About the Senior Structural Technician Role
As Senior Structural Technician, you will lead and produce Revit Models and AutoCAD drawings on a variety of projects from feasibility, concept and detailed design stages, construction and handover.

Other responsibilities include:
Undertake site surveys to develop the brief and to proactively progress the design.
Communicate and collaborate within a multi-disciplinary team to develop a structural design that meets client and key stakeholder requirements.
Responsible for the production, supervision and coordination of 3D BIM models and 2D drawings using Revit and AutoCAD, respectively.
Produce sketches and detailed drawings appropriate to RIBA staged delivery
Supervising and mentoring of junior and less experienced members of the structures team in Revit and AutoCAD to set and maintain high standards.

About You – The Senior Structural Technician
As the Senior Structural Technician, you will be proficient in the use of AutoCAD to produce detailed technical models and drawings, alongside experience in structural detailing.

Other requirements include:
HND/HNC in Civil Engineering (or equivalent)
Experience working on new building designs and refurbishment projects, especially in structural steelwork and reinforced concrete.
Experienced in RIBA staged project delivery and maintaining budget.
Computer literate, with excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.

The post-holder will oversee and manage the day-to-day running of chromatographic and related equipment located across the School. In addition, you will provide general support across a range of research laboratories in the School as necessary.

You will be responsible for maintaining the equipment, organising servicing as required, carrying out training and, where necessary, supervising users. You will produce SOPs and risk assessments as required. You will ensure that the equipment is used safely and efficiently. You will be expected to be a source of information on the latest equipment available and its use, partly through attending training courses as necessary.

You will supervise undergraduate and taught postgraduate student research projects and fulfil grant and commercial projects on Chromatography equipment

The post-holder will have an ability to communicate well with students and staff at all levels and an ability to work on their own initiative to set deadlines.

This role is campus based, 5 days per week
