The Role

About the role
Reporting to the Fleet Workshop Manager, the Shift Supervisor provides a pivotal supporting role to the Workshop management team. Responsible for leading operations across a shift in line with production planning and control requirements, the Supervisor will deploy agreed processes and staff resources to ensure the Workshop operates safely and delivers high levels of quality and efficiency. As an experienced Supervisor you will have your own personal toolkit equipped to undertake routine maintenance and repair of light/heavy vehicles. Specialist tooling and equipment will be provided for common use by everyone within the workshop. A professionally qualified motor vehicle technician, you will have previous experience of leading a team of vehicle technicians. Having worked with a diverse range of vehicles up to 7.5 tonnes – delete if not applicable you will have excellent knowledge of Health & Safety procedures as well as the ability to clearly communicate technical issues to team members.
Key Responsibilities include:
Effective stock control processes and ensuring accurate and timely completion of work orders and associated vehicle documentation to meet both business and legal requirements. Undertaking a full range of technician duties as and when required. First line leadership including the delivery of Weekly Team Meetings, shift huddles, involvement in the remedial approach to conduct issues and ensuring a Technicians’ wellbeing following return from sick absence.
A professionally qualified motor vehicle technician, you will have previous experience of leading a team of vehicle technicians. Having worked with a diverse range of vehicles up to 7.5 tonnes you will have excellent knowledge of Health & Safety procedures as well as the ability to clearly communicate technical issues to team members. Grounds Maintenance Operative needed in Chelmsford

Job Description / Specification:

Our client offers a wide range of services, from the delivery of large multi-phase installations to smaller, more bespoke projects, most of which incorporate soft landscaping works and ongoing grounds maintenance following the completion of the main contract.

Key requirements and tasks:

• Soft landscaping skills of a high standard (planting, turfing etc).
• Experience with the use of machinery (hedge cutters, strimmer's, rotary lawn mowers) etc.
• Candidates should reside within a reasonable travelling distance of our clients premises in Chelmsford, Essex.
• Sole working is required for many of our contracts; therefore, candidates should possess the confidence to work individually using their own initiative.
• Some out of hours working, including nights and weekends will be required.
• Completion of daily record paperwork, including highlighting any future requirements.
• Ensuring works vehicle is kept in good order and all equipment is present and operational.
• Ensuring all health and safety procedures are followed.
• Good people skills.

Required:

• Current driving license.
• Ideally 5 years + previous employment within the soft landscaping / grounds maintenance industry.

Desired

• CSCS card. - preferable but not essential.
• PA1/PA6 - preferable but not essential.
• NQV level 4/5 or RHS Qualification or City and guilds in Horticulture

Attitude and skills:

• Hardworking & Reliable.
• Complete tasks with a high attention to detail.
• Able to plan works methodically, using own initiative.

Starting Salary: £31,200/£120 per day subject to experience + package holiday pension and other benefits
