The post holder will be responsible for ensuring that the Estates and Facilities Teams are, at all times, staffed with suitably qualified and experienced Personnel who are trained, developed and motivated to provide effective and efficient services across the Trust. The Department of Physics at the University of Liverpool is one of the worldwide construction sites for the upgrade of the Inner Tracker (ITk) for the high-luminosity upgrade of the ATLAS experiment at CERN’s Large Hadron Collider. The ITk upgrade is a new detector for measuring the momentum and origin of charged particles emanating from the proton-proton collisions in the centre of the experiment.
The University of Liverpool will produce approximately 3000 strip hybrids, and approximately 580 strip and 500 pixel modules for the ITk. We are looking for two research technicians to take a crucial role in the production of these modules. These are highly skilled roles, crucial for the delivery of a world class detector for the LHC. The successful candidates will assemble high quality hybrids and modules, perform quality control, and record the related data to the database before preparing the items for shipping. They will work effectively as part of a team to ensure the project is delivered to schedule.
• Research technician for the construction and quality control of pixel and strip modules, during production for the ATLAS Upgrade project in the Department of Physics.
• The manufacture and assembly of high precision particle detector components.
• Occasional communication with staff and students on issues relating to the technical services, facilities, and equipment.
• A technical role supporting a large volume of varied activity in an academic department/school/institute or centralised teaching facility.
These posts coincides with the production phase of the ATLAS ITk upgrade. Subject to funding availability, there could be future possibilities of employment within the Department on other projects requiring similar skills and experience.
These roles requires the highest standard of cleanroom working disciplines to be applied. You will be required to work from formal engineering drawings and specifications. Good sensory and physical co-ordination is essential given the small scale and delicate nature of the detectors. Experience of working in a clean room environment and on wire-bonding are highly desirable.
You will have good communication skills and the ability to instruct others (e.g., students) in the production procedures. You will have a BTEC Higher (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering or relevant professional experience.

St. Paul’s Eye Unit is the largest eyecare provider in Cheshire and Merseyside delivering the full range of specialist ophthalmology services including: accident & emergency, corneal cataract and refractive surgery, diabetic eye care, glaucoma, ocular oncology, medical retinal and vitreo-retinal. The unit is also actively involved in NHS, academic and commercial research.

THIS IS A FIXED TERM POST FOR 12 MONTHS

The post holder will be member of a team of 17 ophthalmic technicians based at the new Royal Liverpool University Hospital and will regularly work directly with eye patients in our busy outpatient clinics. They will operate advanced ophthalmic equipment to collect information which assists in the diagnosis and management of sight threatening eye conditions. Equipment used includes Heidelberg Spectralis OCT, Optos California, Pentacam Wave, Zeiss HFA and others.

This role provides valuable technician support to our consultant ophthalmologist led clinical staff by obtaining data from a range of scans, imaging techniques and clinical assessments as appropriate to the extensive range of subspecialties which our eye unit covers.

To perform general house-keeping duties and ensure that the laboratory is maintained in a clean and safe state. This will include cleaning of the Microbiology clean-room suite and pharmaceutical isolators. To prepare deliveries of growth media to customers and to undertake lifting and delivery of heavy laboratory equipment and supplies to other locations within the limits of the post holders capabilities. To manage the disposal of waste from the Microbiology laboratory. To assist in the carrying out microbiological analyses of pharmaceutical products. To carry out, and maintain records of, daily and weekly calibration checks of laboratory instruments and arrange for their service and external calibration. To be responsible for the safe and efficient use of laboratory equipment and ensure that all practices in relation to testing are performed in accordance with the Laboratory Quality System, thereby ensuring confidence in the data. To assist in the development of new or improved methods. To ensure that all work undertaken is correctly and accurately recorded to ensure validity and traceability for audit purposes in line with the laboratorys Quality System. This is an exciting opportunity for a Compliance & Facilities Agent to Join the Housing Management team, working together to provide a high-quality service to our customers, in the Liverpool, Knowsley and Sefton area.

We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic team member who has a passion for going the extra mile to ensure that our schemes remain safe, and customers remain comfortable and happy in their homes.

What will my working week look like?

You will be out on site most days visiting schemes ensuring the health and safety of our customers. You will live within a 15-mile radius to be able to cover your patch. You will also need to be based within a reasonable travelling distance of our Head Office in Birchwood, Warrington to attend meetings and training courses when needed.

What will I be responsible for doing?

First and foremost, you will be responsible for the health and safety of communal areas by completing monthly inspections, weekly fire alarm & emergency lighting tests, reporting repairs and monitoring these through to completion. You will be confident and capable, ensuring all work undertaken is completed with due regard for quality, productivity, and safety.

One of the great things about this role is you will represent YHG and be a 1st point of contact for our customers. Dealing with or signposting customers whilst supporting the Group’s approach to capturing and responding to customer feedback by taking the lead in proactively minimising and assisting in resolution of queries.
