In this role you will be working with all platform teams from JLG at the R&D Facility. You will have the ability to design creative solutions for New Product Development Projects. This is a hands-on role with involvement on new products within JLG. You will be working cross functionally with various engineering teams to develop the products of tomorrow.
THE ROLE
As an R&D Fabrication Technician you will be part of the R&D Fabrication team for Access. You will be responsible for the fabrication and welding of JLG and Jerr-Dan fixtures to support our other factory locations. As part of the fabrication team in R&D, you will be working to perform fixture setups, part fabrication, weldment verification & measurement, final weld and all other aspects to the fabrication process.
HOW YOU MAKE A DIFFERENCE
These duties are not meant to be all-inclusive and other duties may be assigned.
- You will tack and weld complex/customized parts and weldments with foresight to avoid any technical issues
- You will be responsible for determining the appropriate equipment and methods required to setup, tack, weld and dimensionally meet the Engineering print for specific weldments.
- You will be responsible for maintaining the equipment and tools required to perform the job in your area.
- You will work closely with Lead Technician to maintain appropriate stock of laser / torch parts, brake press dies and anything else pertinent to perform the job at hand.
- You will use your ability to read and interpret complex prints and tool up fabricated parts into a weldment.
- You will maintain tooling and weld equipment required for setup of weldments.
- You will be focused on fabrications for tooling and fixturing for weldments and other products.
- You will work and communicate well with Engineering teams when fabricating parts
- You will develop and mentor fellow fabrication specialists to follow best practices and standards.

- You will operate heavy equipment, machinery or drive vehicles for the purpose of R&D development
WHAT YOU NEED
- Technical Diploma with three (3) years of experience in engineering or equivalent*.
- Ability to travel 5%.
WHAT MAKES YOU STAND OUT
- A valid Forklift and Telehandler operator license or the ability to get certified within 6 months.
- Certified Welder (CW) or ability to obtain certification within 30 days.
- Foresight to address potential technical issues with fabrication
- Knowledge of fabrication terms and definitions.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as procedures, operating and maintenance instructions, engineering drawings and 3D CAD models
- Ability to adapt to a fast pace and fluid environment
- Attention to detail and quality
- Ability to manage workload and understand deliverables and project timing
- Verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to utilize Microsoft word, excel and power point
