Greater Manchester Cancer is the cancer programme of the Health and Social Care Partnership representing the whole of Greater Manchester and Eastern Cheshire, covering a population of 3 million people. The GM Cancer Personalised Care team includes the Programme Director and 3 Project Managers, each working on one of the workstreams within the programme: Supportive Care, Core Interventions and Genomics. Personalised Care is a key part of the NHS Long Term Plan. It is a whole system approach that enables a variety of services across the health, social care, public health and community spectrum to be integrated around the individual in order to deliver better outcomes and experiences. Therefore it is an integral cross-cutting programme within the Alliance which has grown rapidly over the past 12 months and in need of project support.
GM Cancer is hosted and based at The Christie and our staff have a hybrid working pattern (mix of working from home and in the office), with some travel across Greater Manchester and Cheshire.
We are looking to recruit a Project Support Officer to directly support the Personalised Care team to deliver multiple different projects within the programme. The Project Support Officer will provide comprehensive administrative and project support for the whole programme, including accurate record keeping, progress updates, preparing and administrating board meetings, communications including updating the website/social media and organising education/engagement events. You must be proficient with word, outlook, power point and excel and have excellent multitasking and prioritising skills. In addition, you must have good attention to detail and work regarding the need for diplomacy and confidentiality.
This is a fixed term contract to the end of March 2026. Secondments welcomed.
This is an exciting time for applicants with significant experience in a similar administrative or project support officer role to join the Greater Manchester Cancer team.
The Christie is one of Europe’s leading cancer centres, treating over 60,000 patients a year. We are based in Manchester and serve a population of 3.2 million across Greater Manchester & Cheshire, but as a national specialist around 15% patients are referred to us from other parts of the country.
