Main Purpose

The school business manager (SBM) is responsible for managing the operation of the business functions of WMS, including financial management, health and safety, human resources, compliance, and administration.

They will advise on and implement the day-to-day support that enables the school to operate effectively and efficiently, and that allows other members of the leadership teams to focus on teaching and learning.

Duties and Responsibilities

Leadership

• Be responsible for line-managing site and administration support staff, including carrying out long-term resource planning and managing the end-to-end recruitment process, appraisal, and professional development
• Implement school-wide changes and allocate resources in line with school improvement plans, putting policies and procedures in place and communicating them to staff
• Take all decisions in line with the vision and values of schools and encourage others to do the same
• Implement a marketing plan for the school, which utilises the school website, signage, the prospectus, and communications with current and prospective parents

Financial Management

• Oversee the security and reconciliation of cash in hand and debtors on a day-to-day basis, ensuring money is banked, money owed is collected and clear records are kept
• Ensure value for money within procurement of goods and services in line with school policy
• Manage the school’s lettings offer
• Ensure the effective and efficient operation of the administration department, delegating tasks to finance/office staff where appropriate

Human Resources

• Maintain staff absence data

Health and Safety

• With the headteachers and premises team, supervise the maintenance of the school site

This is a highly responsible role, and the successful applicant will be part of a team that is dedicated to improving the lives of cancer patients in the Thames Valley and more broadly across the UK. The post holder will work between the Haematology Trials Unit, Late Phase Oncology Trial Unit, both based at the Churchill Hospital, and the OUH Research and Development Team. The two trial units conduct a wide spectrum of Phase I to Phase III clinical trials in cancer with the aim of transforming care of cancer patients. The post holder will be responsible to manage all the income generated from clinical trials is captured, invoiced and received and that expenditure (principally on staff costs) is monitored by Haematology trial units. The post holder will work closely with the R&D Service Manager , the data teams in both trial units, OUH R&D finance teams and the medical and nursing management of both trial units. Ensuring the financial sustainability of both trial units is critical to their success.

This job description outlines the core requirements expected of a Band 5 Business Support & Performance Officer. As such the list below is not exhaustive. Specific requirements related to any specialist area of practice will be outlined with the prospective post holder and included as an addition to these generic descriptors as role specific prior to employment.
1. On a weekly basis working with the trial unit data teams to record money to be billed on each clinical trial conducted by both units, to sponsors of clinical trials. This constitutes the income of each unit.
2. Contacting trial sponsors to make sure invoices are issued promptly.
3. Checking invoices from trial sponsors to correct any irregularities in invoiced issued by trial sponsors and working with trial sponsors to resolve any queries.
4. Providing OUH Finance correct invoices for OUH finance to bill.
5. Checking with OUH Trial Finance that invoices have been paid.
6. On a monthly basis reviewing the expenditure of each unit. This will mainly consist of staff costs.
7. Provide monthly Excel spreadsheet reports of income and expenditure and providing forward yearly forecasts, to the leadership of each trial unit.
8. Provide budgets for new staff posts as they are created.
9. Liaising closely with various external and internal stakeholders e.g. researchers, NHS Departments, Commercial Companies on all issues affecting the trials portfolio as required.

Genomics Quality Assessment (GenQA) is currently seeking a dynamic and motivated individual to join our team as a Marketing and Business Officer. GenQA is a member of the UK National External Quality Assessment Service (UK NEQAS) consortium and is an international organisation facilitating optimal patient care by providing comprehensive assessments for the wide range of activities involved in the delivery of genomic services. This is a highly responsible role, and the successful applicant will be part of a team that is dedicated to improving the lives of cancer patients in the Thames Valley and more broadly across the UK. The post holder will work between the Haematology Trials Unit, Late Phase Oncology Trial Unit, both based at the Churchill Hospital, and the OUH Research and Development Team. The two trial units conduct a wide spectrum of Phase I to Phase III clinical trials in cancer with the aim of transforming care of cancer patients. The post holder will be responsible to manage all the income generated from clinical trials is captured, invoiced and received and that expenditure (principally on staff costs) is monitored by Haematology trial units. The post holder will work closely with the R&D Service Manager , the data teams in both trial units, OUH R&D finance teams and the medical and nursing management of both trial units.
