Mott Macdonald Bentley (MMB) is the design and build unit of global engineering consultancy Mott Macdonald. We are currently looking to recruit a Civil Engineer to work as a Project Leader to help support us in delivering work within our Rolls-Royce framework.

We believe the best engineering projects are delivered by engineers, so we combine the technical Engineer role with some aspects of the traditional Project Manager role into a single, Project Leader role.

What does a Project Leader do day to day?

- Lead the design of various infrastructure projects through the outline and detailed design, construction, commissioning, and handover
- Undertake design work related to your discipline/area of expertise
- Coordinate the project team including Civil, Electrical, Mechanical and Process designers and ensure designs are completed on programme, within budget, and to the quality defined by each framework and industry specifications
- Work as part of a “Project triangle” alongside a Site Manager and Quantity Surveyor to ensure that technical, constructability and commercial aspects of project delivery are considered throughout.

A client within the public sector based in the East Midlands is currently recruiting for a Mechanical Project Supervisor to join their team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full time, contract position with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority environment.

The Role

Key purpose of the role is to manage the Councils building and maintenance projects, providing technical specialist advice in Mechanical Building Services Engineering, ensuring that all works are carried out in an efficient manner.

Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

• Act as a key advisor to the Corporate Landlord on compliance of the Corporate Estate, in accordance with ISO 55000 International Standards for Asset Management.
• Be the Councils technical specialist for mechanical engineering, overseeing compliance, servicing, and projects.

The Candidate

To be considered for this role you will require to be degree qualified or equivalent in control or mechanical engineering or to have completed a foundation degree, BTEC HNC/HND in mechanical engineering or a related engineering subject.

It will be essential to be in experiences in the below:

• Experience and considerable relevant practice experience in the design, installation and management of Mechanical building services, desirable but not essential.
• Experience of specifying and managing building electrical and mechanical works for a range of term, and main contractors
• Ideally, be a Chartered Mechanical Engineer: MIMechE

The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such are offering £25 p/h Umbrella Ltd. (approx. £20 p/h PAYE)

The Roles

As a Principal Planning Officer, you will manage a friendly team of planners and be responsible for delivering an efficient and effective development management service for half of the National Park.

Responsible for conserving the special qualities of this outstanding place, whilst delivering the housing and economic development necessary to sustain thriving communities. You will lead a team of up to 4 staff, guiding and supervising officers, exercising delegated powers, and delivering a high level of performance. You will also manage a small caseload of your own applications, negotiate positive design solutions, and provide professional advice on a broad spectrum of planning issues.

You will also make a significant contribution to the management and performance of the Section and deputise for the Head of Development Management when necessary.

As a Senior Planning Officer you will:

- Take on an interesting caseload of planning applications
- Give expert advice to developers and the public
- Present your recommendations to the Planning Committee
- Give evidence at public inquiries and hearings
- Get involved with interesting projects

About You

Project Manager (Civil Engineering Water Project)

Job Summary:

This client is a water sector solution provider that operates across many regions in the UK. They are seeking an experienced Project Manager to join their Delivery team, to report into the Senior Project Manager. The successful Project Manager will manage the design, construction, commissioning, and completion of contracts, ensuring that projects are delivered efficiently, on time, and within budget, while upholding health and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Promote exceptional safety standards and quality delivery across direct and subcontracted workforces.
• Ensure the implementation of the Business Management System (BMS) throughout the project lifecycle, from tender handover to final completion.
• Maintain strong client relationships and uphold the company's reputation with joint venture partners and suppliers.
• Ensure the availability of trained personnel and communicate their responsibilities.
• Plan and oversee project execution, including reviewing and approving Project Execution Plans (PEP), and monitoring project progress.
• Ensure construction plans and method statements are detailed, approved, and implemented prior to activity commencement.
• At contract completion, ensure all project records are completed as per the PEP.
• Report non-conformities and associated costs throughout the project.
• Manage all commercial aspects of the project, providing accurate forecasts and estimates in a timely and proactive manner.
• Apply detailed knowledge of project management practices, from project conception to end-user acceptance.
• Engage in continuous professional development through networking, conferences, and industry groups.
• Present a professional image in all internal and external interactions and foster positive relationships.
• Understand and implement quality, safety, and environmental policies and targets.
• Maintain practical knowledge of technical disciplines associated with water and wastewater design and build projects.

The Project Manager will require:

Essential:

• Proven experience managing multi-disciplinary design and construction projects, ideally in the water industry.
• Degree or equivalent in construction, commercial, or engineering-related disciplines.
• Project Management Qualification (PMQ) or equivalent.
• Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to collaborate closely with clients and stakeholders.
• Delivery-driven mindset with the ability to lead and motivate teams to meet time, cost, and quality targets.
• Strategic, operational, technical, and management skills.
• Knowledge of Construction Contracts, ideally NEC and/or IChemE.
• Ability to present at governance reviews.
• Risk and opportunity management experience.
• Working knowledge of CDM and construction Health & Safety regulations.
• Flexibility and willingness to travel between office and project sites as required.

Desirable:

• Experience working on water and wastewater treatment plants.
• Chartered status with a relevant professional institution.
• NEC Project Manager Accreditation.

4 on 4 off shift pattern - Average of 35 hpw - 10 hour day

Resolving logistics issues, planning inbound and outbound day loads, reporting KPIs, order management, creation of pick lists, issue of driver instructions, Tachograph management and arranging vehicle servicing will all be a large part of the role.

You will be working with a great team, who are looking for someone who is flexible in their approach to work and be able to make decisions and use their own initiative.
