Project Management To manage and successfully deliver projects as part of the Theatre Productivity & Improvement Programme through a hands-on approach to achieve successful implementation. The CANDo Programme works for the two acute Trusts in Dorset (Dorset County Hospital and University Hospitals Dorset). We bring together clinicians and managers from both trusts into networks to identify where working together more effectively can reduce inequalities, improve outcomes, improve service resilience or improve productivity. We then support these teams in making those collaborations a reality. We work flexibly across two NHS Trusts, and around ten specialties with a mix of home and office based working.

The post holder will use advanced keyboard skills to produce accurate reports and communicate with programme team and wider stakeholders

Mental Effort

The post holder will be required to undertake work requiring a high level of concentration on at least a daily basis. The work pattern will be unpredictable and so there is a likelihood of frequent interruptions.

The post holder is expected to concentrate for long periods at a time transferring and documenting sensitive/confidential data into databases, spreadsheets and word documents. However, the work will be within clear procedures and processes.

The post holder must be able to prioritise workload in order to meet deadlines, both local and those set by Macmillan as part of this project.

Emotional Effort

There will be some occasional direct and indirect exposure to emotional or distressing situations.

Working Conditions
• This is a hybrid role where some homeworking and some office working is expected and enabled. A full time post holder in this role would normally be expected to be in one of the acute sites at least 2 days per week.
• Whilst the post holder could nominate a base from any of the acute hospital sites the post holder will from time to time need to travel to other sites in Dorset.

MANAGERIAL Provide effective leadership to the designated team. Formulate and implement local clinical and operational practices and procedures as appropriate. In this role you will be required to work closely with our Clinical Leads as well as experienced speciality teams to provide both operational management and strategic direction. A proven ability to engage clinical and managerial teams is essential, as is the ability to deliver high performing services within budget, in a cycle of continuous improvement. You will be encouraged to generate and develop ideas and reporting to the Deputy Divisional Director of Operations for Family Care.

This role will cover Childrens services, including outpatient, and community. The role requires an individual with passion, commitment, excellent communication skills, vision and the desire to drive standards and lead on service improvement.

To manage and co-ordinate the ongoing work and service development of the operational area using strategic, business and operational skills to ensure the service meets required performance targets, in line with national requirements, local strategies and objectives.

This will require the Operational Manager to provide business and managerial support to the Clinical Teams in order that the activity, quality, safety and financial objectives are successfully delivered. In particular the Operational Manager will be responsible for ensuring that patients receive treatment within contractually agreed waiting time maxima for the whole service.

The Operational Manager will need to develop good working relationships with other Divisions and branches within the same Division. Ensure that a locality orientation is blended with a pan-Trust focus where required, and that there is constructive, collaborative working with colleagues within the trust at all times and external Trusts and agencies as required.
